I think I've only climbed the gut section below Sluicebox once, I can cope with that loss. I do like climbing Enchanted though to mix it up on the way home sometimesyep.

The trails I use the bell on are in the local park a few blocks from my house, and are unsanctioned. They're clearly downhill bike trails, but hikers still go up them because they show up on fucking Google Maps (Google datamines Strava Global Heatmap). Most of the locals use a bell just to make a token effort to reduce the amount of whining that the county parks commissioner gets. One guy also made some official looking brown & white signs saying "Downhill Bike Trail Hiking Not Advised" and hung them up. That seems to be actually helping.
It's fucking priceless when you have the bell on, blast by some clueless hiker with earbuds in, who then takes them out to yell at you, only to realize that you had a bell on and they didn't hear it because of the earbuds. You can see them open their mouth, then shut it as they realize that.
I take it off when I ride places where it's only bikes, just because I hate the racket.

I use a seldom utilized technique called "looking through my eyes" to avoid running into people.

Problem is that this only works on pretty open trails. If the terrain doesn't allow for great visibility (forest, ditches, mountainside) then you unfortunately still will have these encounters unless you ride super slow.

Anyone had success using the OneUp chainguide (v2) with a Revved frame? I'm wondering what shim distance you used to avoid rubbing the chainstay and chain. With the 2.5mm offset shims, it's too close to the chainstay. With 2x 2.5mm shims, it looks like it clears the chainstay, but it's pushing on the chain. I'll run by the hardware store at lunch, but it'd be nice to know a specific shim thickness to shoot for. I'm guessing I want about 4mm.

I'm running an OneUp chainguide (v2) on my new TP, but I just milked various old cantilever brake washers in there to get the spacing where I wanted it. #recycle
I grabbed some M6 washers. If I add an M6 to the OneUp shim, then the chain rubs the guide. 2x M6 washers gives just a hair of clearance on both the chainstay and chain.
I can't help thinking that this doesn't seem right. Did I install the GG ISCG mount wrong? I set it so it was as close to flush with the face of the threaded BB, with the bumps for the 3 bolt holes on the bike side. I'm guessing if I flipped it, everything would get pushed further away (outside cup of BB, crank & chain, etc.).
Hey man, with an e13 guide, I had one fat (2.5mm) washer, 1 thin (1mm) washer and a couple super thin (.5mm) washers, but don’t recall the number, 1-3. Bike isn’t here to measure at the moment.

Thanks. I went back to the 2.5mm spacer and 1.5mm washer to get 1+mm clearance from the CS, and just Dremel'd the shit out of the inside of the guide to make clearance. I think the reason I've got such tight clearance is that I'm running a 52mm chainline instead of GG's preferred 55mm.

DHX2. I almost went for a Storia in back but I plan on experimenting with different chainstays and don't want to invest too much in one shock until I figure out what I want to stick with.

I actually did essentially the same thing. Got a smash (60mm stroke) shock, with plans to try the bike setup as The Smash, Gnarvana (150mm travel), and Megatrail (145/155mm).
The Gnarvana has been so good for me, I haven’t played around, but eager to swap to the Megatrail this fall for kicks.
Definitely thought about going mullet right out of the gate, but decided to give full 29 a shot first. What are the HA/WB/CS numbers on a MegaSmash compared to the same size Smash?
Serious question is a new pedalhead or ph replacement going to be thought about?
You would be, in round numbers, 1deg slacker angles, <10mm longer front-center, and a ~7mm higher BB compared to a normal Megatrail w/ 170mm fork.
