Highland is alot of fun. I started riding there middle last summer and fell in love. Season pass this year. Only 1.5hr drive for me. They have lots of features, jumps, drops, and lots of gnarly terrain. I can't wait to get up there and ride the new slopestyle cousre this weekend. Watch...
Go onto highlandmountain.com and check out the community blog. Tons of photos of that course and it is nearly finished. Lookin real nice. Nice work Highland!
I read some reviews and it seems to be a sweet setup. They all say read the instructions first, which they learned the hard way by not, and especially not use mineral based lube, which seems to cause major problems. It sounds like this is the way to go. What is the ISCG adapter, that alot I...
Great info JP. I had no idea there was a 2 ring guide. I just started having problems 2 weeks ago when we went to Diablo. Last year at Highland I experienced infrequent problems. I need to get on the stand and look for something I may have bent. I ride xc twice a week and would like to keep...
I am thinking of ditching the front derailer and granny gear in place of single speed and chainguide. I do lost of lift riding and am tired of putting the chain back on after chattering through the rough stuff. I also ride it cross country but use the 32 ring 90% of the time anyway. It has...
Listen to these guys. Sound like you have money burning a hole in your pocket. You need to try riding some bikes and go with what feels best. Most times you go to a trailhead or riding destination(vietnam in central Ma. or Highland in NH) there are several other people there with a wide...
We also stayed at Beaver hill. Decent. Clean bathrooms. Pretty small so it may fill up fast. It was $38 for elec/water for my pop-up for 2 people. $8 each add adult. Non elec/water is $34. Short ride to Diablo.
Don't go to Highland, it sucks. Yeah right. That was my cheesy attempt to keep lift lines down. I just bought my season pass 2 days ago. Vietnam in Milford Ma is fun if you like to pedal for it.
Hey slaphead, you guys riding that local thing yet. My riding buddie knows you guys. Mark B...
I have not raced in years but would like to start again but seems to be very few dual slaloms around. I raced the trail 66 races back in the mid 90's and it was a ton of fun. I made it into the top 16 bracket a handful of times seeded 16th or 15th and always had to race Aaron Chase or Kyle...
Dave, no sweat on the razzing. I come from Massachusetts and ball busting is considered the norm. You are right, I should have researched first. I think soft spring is the biggest factor. I am going to play around tonight a little, but still order the harder spring. The drops are only...
I read the manual and they say not to exceed 100psi. The amount of air controls the damping, not the preload. They sell heavier spring kits for the left leg for more preload. Then, the big nut around the air screw on the right leg controls the damping from half stroke to bottom. Turn it one...
Davep putting the smack down on my laziness. Right on. I actually did get the owners manual and repair manual off their site last night right around the same time I was posting. It wasn't the easiest site to find but I got it finally. I completely wanted to read up and learn about it. But I...
Retro, you weigh 20lbs more than me and run 45psi? So why does mine bottom with 60psi then 80psi? What are you turning that you talk about volume. I am used to the regular terms like preload, damping, rebound adjustments. What is volume? I only saw one knob on the bottom of the fork leg and...
I am pretty sure this shock is air over coil. maybe I need a stiffer spring but it bottoms really easy. I am wondering if anyone knows about this specific fork and common problems and repairs.
I have a manitou sherman front fork. I am 180lbs. How much air should I have in the chamber. At least a point to start from. I rode yesterday, and on a 4' drop, it would bottom out. A friend said he thought it needed 50psi. I checked it and it was at 60psi. So I pumped it up to 80 and...
Thanks for the info guys. It sounds like it can be done. She didn't want to commit to buying the bike unless it could have the small ring to climb and medium ring for lift/freeriding. This is the smallest bike we could find for her but wanted it to be versitle. I think it will be a go.
Thanks manimal, I will let you know soon if I need that. I think the bike has the iscg tabs though. It has the single chainring with the guide rollers. We have not bought it yet but want to know if this can be done before we buy. If it has the ISCG tabs do they make a derailer kit for those?
Does anyone know if, or has done, convert a specialized big hit grom to have a front derailer and climbing ring? Is it possible? A friend said that there is a kit that adds a plate to your bottom bracket and the derailer bolts to that for bikes that don't have a frame mount. Ever hear of this?
Thanks for the info guys. Some of these bikes I had not heard of yet. As far as riding style it will be some cross country but lots of lift riding/freeriding. Highland is going to be a very regular visit being only 1.5 hours away. So she is looking for a bike to do a variety of riding...
A friend of mine recently joined us at Highland and had an awesome time. She rode my old Cannondale super v 1000, medium or small, not sure, and liked riding but definately needed something smaller. Better brakes and susp too. She found a small(seller claimed)specialized big hit for small $...
