    spies like us

Money quote: Jessie Gugig, 15, said she could not believe the charges, especially against Mrs. Murphy. “They couldn’t have been spies,” she said jokingly. “Look what she did with the hydrangeas.”

    Old higher-end vs newer entry-level

I wasn't able to dig up the geometry numbers on the 8500, but I'd bet the newer bike has better geometry - I think geometry is more important than suspension quality any day.

    Google Chrome slow when reloading?

I haven't experienced that with Chrome. Older versions of Firefox acted similar for me - they had memory leaks, so if you left them open for long periods of time they would eat up all the available memory on the computer... Are you guys running any extensions? They can cause wonky behavior on...

how do you prevent flash in browsers from taking too much bandwidth

Your problem is likely that flash is pegging your CPU, rather than using all your bandwidth. Unfortunately, it's tremendously inefficient. To my knowledge there's nothing to do about it except wait for Adobe to make it not suck...

Replacing my truck seats? Truck Monkeys?

I'm all for the budget route - if you already have captains chairs in your truck, you can pick up some nice seats out of a 'sporty' car in the junkyard and weld 'em to the existing brackets. Super cheap way to get nice, supportive seats.

    RenthalCycling.com

It's hard to argue with the radness that some of the big name suspension companies have brought to this sport, that's for sure, and looking at the list, I agree that a lot of those companies are seriously legit, and have brought professionalism and quality to our sport. I guess I'd just be...

    RenthalCycling.com

I'm sure they'll be solid products, and the stem design looks interesting, but I'll stick with supporting companies that are dedicated to cycling, not dabbling from the moto world. If Renthal comes out with a genuinely innovative product, then they'll be worth supporting, in my book.

Wheel building - Loctite on spokes?

The Wheelsmith spoke prep I use also has teflon in it, but sounds otherwise the same as LocTite Blue. I have no idea if that matters in any way. It may also be worth noting that LocTite blue is recommended for fasteners with a minimum diameter of 6mm, rather than the 2.0 mm of a 14 gauge spoke...

Can you by effect reduce the 2010 boxxer travel

All the best hobbies involve dirt and hills - mountain biking, motocross, rallye driving, etc... So if your mountain is on fire, you might just be SOL... Maybe you can live in your bedroom an play World of Warcraft 20 hours a day until the fires go out...

About to buy a D3... question about sizing

Nice! One thing to bear in mind when you make your final decision is that the pads, particularly at the cheeks, will break in a bit over time. For a nice snug fit after break-in, you want to be rocking a bit of the chipmunk cheek look at first.

About to buy a D3... question about sizing

If you get in touch with someone that's a TLD dealer, they may be able to get you thicker pads, if you feel like it would make up the difference... That said, a good snug fit is critical, so if you can, you should go to the large... I tried mail ordering helmets a few times, but I've given up...

Trying to tighten spokes, makin a real mess of things... HELP!

First of all, please, please, please go buy a spoke wrench from your friendly local bike shop! Truing wheels is a finicky business. The basic concept is dead simple, but the execution takes a lot of practice and patience. It's also much, much easier on a truing stand than on the bike...
