Gads, that was a depressing read.
That city's highest population was 1940 and it's been decreasing since. It's a textbook, dying middle-American town. Only enough people there to work local fields and the immediate support businesses. The Google maps street view shows almost half of main street stores are closed. They aren't even on a semi-moderate state highway... They do have a pizza hut and Dollar General though.

Sadly though, this is the population that gets easily wrapped into rhetoric of blaming others (race, religion, lgbtq, etc). It easy to blame someone else or point a finger for the mentality of "you're causing this problem I'm experiencing", when it might be the only positive thing you have going for you. And look at us right now. We're a bunch of educated liberals making fun of their small town. Man... Our country really needs a social network and another CCC or New Deal govt infrastructure development program. It would dig people everywhere out of holes (money and society) they can't get out of.

I have no idea where I am
So far with 3 days of food and enough water to dry camp I'm at 30.5 lbs. Using a bear canister this time which adds 2 lbs and an extra L of water. Gotta trim some of that weight off. First day is only 5 miles though.

Quite right, they are hard core Trumpers. but they want to continue to do what they have always done like in the good old days Hell it worked for grandpa. They don't want to change, they are not open to new ways of doing things or educating themselves. my mil blames it all on the thieving mexicans and Ay Rab Muzzies. oh and of course those evil demmycrats that want to make this a socialist nation...her list goes on...
