Got my first set of spds at 15. The same red dx ones, still have them. I rode cb for a few years, but have found myself back on shimano. Considering saint spd for my dh bike.I grew up with SPDs, tried CB for a bit, but I bent a set of Mallets and I didn’t really like the excessive float. To vague all round. Went back to Spuds. Loved the old red DX ones but these days I run 454s and I consider them a wear part. The plastic cage protects my motor (axle) from the full intensity of occasional 30kph pedal strikes.
That's a fuckin shame.I hear SRAM just bought Time so they’ll probably become unreliable now
I used the DX as well and later some 424s. Always had knee pain if I adjusted the springs so I would not pull out when sprinting. Thought it was my knees until I tried CBs for the first time. Glorious float, no issues with mud and no chance of accidental unclipping anymore.I grew up with SPDs, tried CB for a bit, but I bent a set of Mallets and I didn’t really like the excessive float. Flats here. Have clipless, but almost never put them on. The shoes are just slowly deteriorating in the corner of the garage.
i finally gave my 15yo shimano spds and associated shoes to the local recyclery last year. ran clips way bacl in the day for maybe 8 or 10 years, but after i started on flats never felt the need to go back. heels down and plow, fuckers!
New cleat bolt pattern and axle thread type on the way!I hear SRAM just bought Time so they’ll probably become trendy now for a bit.
Turkey is deliciousMy wife convinced me to roast a turkey today. Turned out nice, didn't dry out, but served as a reminder why I only cook a whole fucking turkey once a year at most.
it was nice today...70* sun.

Lamb roast worked fine, onions in cream sauce a failure, strawberries with heavy cream a win.i finally gave my 15yo shimano spds and associated shoes to the local recyclery last year. ran clips way bacl in the day for maybe 8 or 10 years, but after i started on flats never felt the need to go back. heels down and plow, fuckers!
in other news, roasted lamb was delicious, as were post-meal porters and lying around on the patio in the 70* sun.

I did brine it.Anybody who says otherwise is an asshole.
Dry brine, use a bunch of butter, herbs, garlic and a little citrus, fucking outstanding and easy. Spatchcock it and grill it, even easier.
reminds me of my buddy’s Santa Cruz...Looks like my crabonz frame is le phuqued? The show goes on.
How so?Quarter ugga dugga too much
Unfortunately. We'll see what they have to say about this.reminds me of my buddy’s Santa Cruz...
Not sure of the bearing layout but it could be plausible that excessive bolt tension could pull the bearing through causing delamination, good chance most of the fiber is wrapped axially. Could also just be lateral forces or poor manufacturing. Either way, seems sub optimal. How so?
