Here. Sore. Tired. Did an 8 mile ride with Haley last night. She's lost a bit of nerve since she properly ate shit on our last ride and wanted to walk a few steeper sections. After we dropped her seat she got back a bit of nerve. I might just get her a cheap dropper to see if that helps keep her progressing without having to regularly stop to adjust her saddle height. I was ruined as this was my first ride on probably 8 months since I blew up my shoulder. Riding on keto (but stricter) is really hard because fueling is hard to keep up. Also the Nukeproof is really hard to ride slow, both up and downhill.

@Nick she wanted to do a ride with you in Golden sometime next week. We can do weekday preferably.

Wifey wants to paint her office shelves white now (vs raw oak). We got the estimate this am for yesterday's contractor meeting. $2700 for whole process with materials. I did a quick cost total on materials and it's $250. I'm going to go ahead and setup the drying racks again and do the painting. She knows the timeline will be 2-3 weeks and is okay with it to save $2k. Still need to get drywall and electrical finished in the family room.

Signing up for solar today. Running it on the amortization schedule with our mtge and taking the offset is more beneficial than taking the lump and paying directly into the mtge (wtf math?!).

Also just found out that a retirement seminar I'm teaching in 2 weeks already has over 100 people signed up and it was only announced to the employees yesterday evening. I also saw the CEO's name on the list. This should be a biggie.
I've got a 100mm drop 30.9 external routed lev that I'd probably let go for a c-note, if that would work on her frame?

I have no idea where I am
Entire right side is painful.....

Right knee just feels overworked, hip is bruised, rubs bruised, shoulder bruised, hopefully elbow is just bruised and not fractured/ligament damage.....

Somehow mis stepped hiking yesterday and ended up falling off a ledge/embankment/small cliff... whatever the cool kids call it these days.... remembered to tuck and roll, however I didnt actually roll, pretty much flat landed into my riggt chest and shoulder about six feet down.

If the elbow doesnt start to get better by monday itll be a doctor visit.
Falling with a full pack while hiking is a completely different experience than crashing on a bike. Don’t have the same momentum to roll out with. You just smack the ground. So embarrassingly awkward.

Yeah I'm doing some research about that on TrailsForks. That part looks AWESOME!
They are working on a "through the forest" trail to get back to the start. I hope for you they are done when you come up. Waiting for it to make my trip there.

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
About to head out for a ride, then interview for a job I don't actually want, but if I can get them to go along with an unresonable pay-rate I'll take, and making pizza tonight, not great, not terrible for a Friday.

Damn, I need to move to CO and start painting cabinets, $2k for 2-3 days work ain't half bad.

You own a paint gun? If not, get yourself one.

I'm guessing there is no where to park to shuttle the road back up?

there's a coffee mkaer thread in the food forum, which also includes espresso machines & grinders.

for how much i like espresso my own machine was definitely a worthwhile investment. i definitely drink it more often now that i can make good quality at home.
this reminds me. it's time for #4 today.

All built-in, so a bitch to pull down. Wifey is okay with fine roller as long as her desk surface is smooth.

She's 27.2, iirc. Little kiddo bike. I still need to get a replacement for the Nukeproof though. Reverb is shit.

i'm not that far down the nerd hole. yet.

seriously though, any more caffeine messes me up.
I forgot to take my Vyvanse this morning. A mid-afternoon shot sort of helps me keep up.

I usually have 1 cappucino upon waking, 1 espresso after breakfast, and another espresso after lunch. Spread out like that it isn't too much caffeine. Probably less than someone having 2 large cups of drip coffee a day.

Also, knowing dose in, dose out and approx. time really helps you dial in the taste you're after. When you find you've pulled a good shot, write the "recipe" down, and then it's super easy to make it again. This is especially helpful in the morning when you haven't had a coffee yet!

very nice. Where you planning on relocating to? Sounds like you have a pretty sweet location already...
We are building a new house on a bigger lot with the backyard being our trail network. Now we are 5 minutes from the closest trailhead, which is not bad, but sucks to have to take the car for the dogs and to go skiing.

Always wanted to build myself my own designed house after all these years designing for others. #iamanarchitectnot

@Jozz looks great! I'm wondering why you didn't take the cabinets all the way to the ceiling?
At first I wanted to do that. But our second floor got a nice curve to it, so making the upper trim would have been a pita.
So I decided to leave it like that.

Electrical done. Tracked down the right line, junction box put in, lights installed. Just need to install the second set of doors on the cabinets (tomorrow), fix the repeater in the fan (or get a new one), and grout the hearth tile. We found someone to come in tomorrow to do the drywall and knockdown the other contractors fucked up. Wifey is currently painting her office to mirror the rest of the main floor.

There's still stuff like the office shelves, baseboards in the office (12' worth), and painting the laundry room (meh). But that is all pretty low priority. I have a feeling that painting the shelves will get prioritized over my workbench, but I will need that for the wine bar and kitchen cabinet doors. For those I will likely get a paint gun and set up a paint room in the garage.

Getting it square is my biggest concern.

Are those MDF with MDF pieces on top to create the shaker?
5/8 russian ply with a 1/8 applique stapled and glued. Having made real shaker doors with a router, this method is cheaper and faster. Of course only for painted doors.

I built a jig out of scrap wood, though I think they sell jigs if you don't feel like going through that.

Just make sure it has a backer on it, so the wood doesn't split when you break through with the bit. I also used Brad point drill bits to prevent wandering.
