Still so relieved my insurance will help with a new frame. Nice to have positive things like that pop up. I also got amazing service at the dealer. The Trek shop by me used to have the worst staff I have ever met in a bike shop both in the shop and the mechanic. Also trying to get the frame upgraded to the gen 4 which has so nice small upgrades especially the ability to change progressiveness of the shock.

Hey gang!
I want sleep! As JBP mentioned, it’s darker than a 15 yo’s diary out there. I am actually looking forward to the time change so it will at least be light in the morning.
Still interviewing folks. Can you believe some jerk is going to report to me? Wack

Another day trading my precious time in this life for money, all on the uncertain promise that I'll be able to use that money to fund a period of leisure later in life.

Not sure I'm entirely okay with this.

Slept amazing.
First real winter day forecasted here, let's see if it's a bust or it really sucks. I did NOT swap over to winter wheels yet, so I predict freezing rain and snow between me and everywhere I want to go. More likely to be just enough moisture to make AMAZING trail conditions for the following days. Woot!

Cheers.

you riding flats and regular shoes? or 'proper' cycling footwear? I find for the commutes, normal footwear and flats work best when it's cold. These Columbia boots have been good for me in the winter. decently warm, and work well with flat pedals.

would not advice. get proper winter riding shoes. i went down this path, never looked back.
For reals though, shoe covers were great this morning, but weather was also totally decent except for the chill. Flats and some good boots are probably the way I'll go for winter commuting, when it arrives. I have a pretty nice but old pair of REI branded hiking boots that would probably be perfect, assuming they survived the move.

IME there is a very narrow window of conditions where I found shoe covers to be suitable. granted, that's also based on the climate in my region.

@Pesqueeb, I have the same boots that @slyfink posted for fatbiking and can confirm that they're warm, comfy, and work well with flat pedals. If you decide to stick to 'proper' cycling shoes for commuting in the winter, then I whole-heartedly agree with @jonKranked's opinion that shoe covers are for suckers and actual winter shoes are what you want. After years of doing the shoe cover thing I finally got a pair of winter shoes and won't ever be going back.
