8.5 x 2.5" shock? don't the previous models use a 8.75 x 2.75" shock?

yeah the older ones are running the 8.75x2.75, kinda werid as well that the shock is freeride tuned, considering the scratch is their freeride bike if I'm not mistaken.

I think the paint looks alot cleaner than my 10' Session. The hound-tooth is just too busy for my likes. Clean looking bike!

I have a feeling that the anodized finish will be more durable than the gloss on previous models. Though, I still like the 2010 Session 8 more. Trek sucks

they're selling it online? did something change, or is their trek dealership gonna get the smackdown?

A friend of mine just bent his frame a little in that exact spot so they are put there for a very good reason, can't understand why they wouldn't stick a pair on the Session 8 tho.

The 88 has a reshaped tubing to make it more aero. I guess that wind tunnel worked showed something.
The Sesh 8 has an optional "strap on" DT guard

who cares how long the finish lasts, it lasts longer than the frames do.

strap on guard huh? maybe they just should have bit the weight penalty and spec'd proper size tubing.

Really? I would say that this is a better solution, stronger profile tubes, rubber/carbon bash plate and still very light.
I would have that over a porky frame.

I agree. Lets apply that to everything that rides better when it weighs less - motorcycles, dirt bikes (PLASTIC GUARDS?!!! rofl, why not just make 3 inch thick steel coverings to prevent dents from rock strikes), quads, baja cars....

but seriously, you're flat out wrong. companies should do whatever gives the best ratio of strength to weight. no idea if this is lighter, stronger, weaker, made of cotton candy, etc, but i do know that trek tests their bikes pretty extensively, and I do know that if they can achieve a lighter weight with similar resistance to rock strikes as a thicker tube, they should do it.

Session 88 is $6,299.99 and the session 8 is a litle bit over $4,000,that is expensive!
It really is expensive. Plus, nothing has been upgraded on the 8. (I think the Fox Van shock is a downgrade from the fox DHX 4.0 from last year) Glad I picked up a barely used 2010 model for under 3,000.

I do like the Session 88 frame that is sold by itself. Nice paint scheme compared to the ugly completes.
