Ah that sucks, I keep seeing the link which doesn't exist anymore, did the carbons demos get leaked too ?Not photoshop. I posted on MTBR, and got a pm from francois about taking them down.
Here are some on my fb page - https://www.facebook.com/TheBicycleGarage
It may not look like it since it's the same general shape, but with how short the d8 chainstays are, how forward that axle path is, and trying to fit a 27.5 wheel in there........they completely redesigned the rear endThe way Aaron was talking about a new bike I thought it was a complete redesign not just bigger wheels, unless there just teasing us until the later rounds of the world cup.
It's not that forward. It's just not very rearward. There are some frames that are known for being rearward but in the last part of travel they are very forward (much more than the demo) but yeah, they have to do some serious redesigning for the 27.5.It may not look like it since it's the same general shape, but with how short the d8 chainstays are, how forward that axle path is, and trying to fit a 27.5 wheel in there........they completely redesigned the rear end
i speculated that in another thread, and some folks got butt hurtcomplete? prob $10K
It's like an inch forward. That's a lot when you're trying to cram another inch and a half of pure marketing bliss into a 16.5 chainstay. It's not that forward. It's just not very rearward. Carbonz rimz? if so, $11.5ki speculated that in another thread, and some folks got butt hurt
My point in the other thread is that the demo is currently their cheapest full suspension s-works bike.I'll guess $9k, they seemed to have the old sworks left at 10k so they've prob hit a ceiling there.
The long-standing secret of the dirtbag downhiller market vs. dentists is finally out.My point in the other thread is that the demo is currently their cheapest full suspension s-works bike.

Hooray for my dh bike buying.
Shlt for my trail bike buying.
i for one would wear a replica DH kit if it were a skinsuit.Grown ass men playing hero dress up.
Nothin sells quite like it.
Are you sure? I may have been looking at the older demo but I remember it went backward and forward very little and that was the reason they advertised FSR as having vertical axle path. An inch is a ton of forward movment. Will have to look that up when I'm back in homeIt's like an inch forward. You love zee skinsuit!i for one would wear a replica DH kit if it were a skinsuit.
You love zee skinsuit!
Haha that reminds me of the "S"That main pivot is pretty low and rearward. It may not be a full inch but it sure as shlt ain't 'vertical'.
I thought the patent mentioned it (either as a feature or as a 'necessary byproduct') as something essential to the function. I know the dh bikes had kind of a neutered version but didn't the trail bikes actually have an S-like path?Haha that reminds me of the "S"
path that VPP supposedly followed back in the day. Don't you love the bike industry?
those 3 have the same shock rate, or are we comparing different axle paths with different shock rates at the same time?I now respectfully offer to film JoeG riding the same section of sharp rocks on a specialized demo, and then a canfield Jedi. Or a foes dhs and then a single pivot turner dhr. Same shocks if possible. The stipulation being that we can only discuss what is shown in video.
Come on Joe, where are ya?
Good to see him address the claimed S shape of the old V10. I think even at the time everyone was even calling that one a partial S. That was back when specialized bikes were "completely vertical" so there was certainly worse.
I'm pretty sure we can find a bikes that could be used for Kidwoos example. I remember that k9 guy that wrote for dirt mag (Louis Arraiz if I remember right) claiming the shock rate on 2010 demo and Empire Ap-1 is fairly similar. The axle path isn't.those 3 have the same shock rate, or are we comparing different axle paths with different shock rates at the same time?
As soon as I can figure out what that is, I'm on it!*Empire Ap-1 is fairly similar.
There you go....As soon as I can figure out what that is, I'm on it!*
*not really, don't respond to this, I'm not buying dh frames to do this
I was actually trying to help you prove the point you tried to prove but yeah I'd be curious how 2 bikes with similar leverage, same shock and specs but different axle path ride. And once again norbar proves he's pretty valuable at knowing some obscure random shlt that no one cares about...........but is surprisingly relevant to whatever point he's trying to make once you figure out what he's talking about.
Basically, the center of your rear wheel can't move much more than 20mm in distance from the center of the bottom bracket or your pedals feel like they are getting tugged around a lot.
The truth is that axle path should be a result of other parameters, not a goal in itself. Therefore, axle path doesn't matter.
Not enough that it's really going to mean the difference between a good bike and a crappy bike. Or that something "pedals great" or "is neutral under braking" - whatever that means. That's bogus.
It looks like they've set themselves up solidly for another apology article in the future.Make up a simple, believable reason why a product is superior. And then repeat those reasons over and over until they become accepted as common knowledge despite the lack of real justification.
