Has there ever been a band with a longer name?
The lead guy (name escaping me) lives a couple miles away and does kids music now as Casper Baby Pants. Actually quite good as far as kids music goes. He is completely domestic and plays the farmers market and other such venues. I've seen him twice and the kids love it.
Such is my life....

NTSB Identification: CHI90MA244 .
The docket is stored on NTSB microfiche number 43569.
Nonscheduled 14 CFR Part 135: Air Taxi & Commuter
Accident occurred Monday, August 27, 1990 in ELKHORN, WI
Probable Cause Approval Date: 9/11/1992
Aircraft: BELL 206B, registration: N16933
Injuries: 5 Fatal.

FOUR HELICOPTERS WERE BEING USED AT NIGHT TO TRANSPORT A CONCERT GROUP FROM A GOLF COURSE AREA NEAR ELKHORN, WI, TO CHICAGO, IL. AS THE THIRD HELICOPTER (N16933) WAS DEPARTING, IT REMAINED AT A LOWER ALTITUDE THAN THE OTHERS, AND THE PILOT TURNED SOUTHEASTERLY TOWARD RISING TERRAIN. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE HELICOPTER CRASHED ON HILLY TERRAIN ABOUT 3/5 MI FROM THE TAKEOFF POINT. ELEVATION OF THE CRASH SITE WAS ABOUT 100 FT ABOVE THE GOLF COURSE AND 50 FT BELOW THE SUMMIT OF THE HILL. NO PREIMPACT PART FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION WAS FOUND DURING THE INVESTIGATION. PILOTS OF THE OTHER HELICOPTERS REPORTED VFR FLIGHT CONDITIONS WITH SOME FOG. A GROUND WITNESS NEAR THE CRASH SITE REPORTED HAZE AND GROUND FOG OF VARYING INTENSITY WITH PATCHES OF LOW CLOUDS, BUT SAID STARS COULD BE SEEN THROUGH THE FOG.

The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident as follows:
IMPROPER PLANNING/DECISION BY THE PILOT, AND HIS FAILURE TO ATTAIN ADEQUATE ALTITUDE BEFORE FLYING OVER RISING TERRAIN AT NIGHT. FACTORS RELATED TO THE ACCIDENT WERE: DARKNESS, FOG, HAZE, RISING TERRAIN, AND THE LACK OF VISUAL CUES THAT WERE AVAILABLE TO THE PILOT.

Narlus is looking anxiously at the corner full of cds from Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Jesus Jones, Big Audio Dynamite II, and EMF, and hoping we don't notice. Not that I'd know anything about that. Or Urge Overkill. (Ok, guilty hipster pleasure.)

No one's mentioned Sonic Youth, right? But I think someone did say Fugazi and Beta Band. Belly was awesome; so was Liz Phair. They briefly made me want a vagina of my own.

Personally, I liked Therapy a lot. What about NoFX, All, or the Descendants? (****, I just realized I was talking about 80s music for the most part there...) Jesus and Mary Chain has been said, but what about their Yoko: Mazzy Star?? I loved "She Hangs Brightly..."

Does anyone remember the Dambuilders? I loved that single off "encendedor." (edit: "Shrine" http://www.vh1.com/video/the-dambuilders/46429/shrine.jhtml Edit MCMCIILV: That video foretold my future! )

No one's talking Blur or Radiohead (sort of thankfully). Catherine Wheel?

ohh, and Ministry and KMFDM and some of Front 242's later stuff.

Pixies don't count; they're doing shows! And are still the ****ing best band of all eternity. Weezer's still a fun band, too.

Should I not drink before posting?

Edit II: yes, I was a huge James fan. I saw them live at six flags great adventure. I am that much of a loser.

Edit III: YO LA ****ING TENGO!!

oh my ****ing god.

I will be in the US, too. If we can pawn the newborn off on a grandparent or something, that might be the ultimate new-mom-getting-a-break gift for Steph. Flights to vegas are cheap enough.

Oh--who remembers Better than Ezra??

James, I would have loved to see them in concert...

What about God Lives Underwater? My first 18+ show, on my 18th birthday, with my friend who turned 18 the day before...

This was kind of the only Catherine Wheel song I liked. But I liked it a lot.

Does New Order count as 90s?

Ed: Afghan Whigs!

Morphine!

Mudhoney.

I liked their first couple of albums. Black Metallic, Crank, Eat My Dust You Insensitive F***, some good tracks to be found.
The lead singer has one song on his solo album I kind of like, and a while back he was doing an acoustic tour, and playing a bunch of CW songs, even hit Reno-freaking-Nevada when I was nearby, but I had a work thing that night, of all nights!

New Order I'd say no, while they were around then, they were a product of the 80s (24 Hour Party People - amazing movie!), and most of their best work (IMHO) was in teh 80s.
