It would appear I work with a lot of people who are unhappy in their marriages, lots of loud complaining about their wives.

My wife may annoy me sometimes, but I'm not going to talk shit about her to my coworkers.

Garbage day, you know what to do.....

Welding some Aluminum UTV ramps up today, gotta hold 1700lb, I figure a 12' long folding set that can hold 900lbs a side at 16" wide will do and still nest in the bed rack nicely. Then I can load the UTV and make any mods for the tie down points if needed then move onto the airbags for the truck. Gotta change the tank and the wire out of the pulse machine first.

In other news,

Might have a building permit by the time I get back. Seems I may be building on the hill before a permit gets issued for the town lots.

From what I have read, a proper headphone jack compromises two design elements:
Resistance to water ingress, and how thin they can make the phone. I miss my LG’s that had a jack and a DAC.
The jack is just a hole, I'm sure it could be made water resistant like the speaker?

And my particular samsung S24 isn't that thin..

Bravo Sir for choosing love over toxic male bonding rituals. I’m upgrading you from Happy Couple to Preferred Couple. Congratulations.

honestly if its that bad i just don't get why people stay in a bad situation. like Tim, while some of my wife's quirks may annoy me, but that's really the worst of it (IMO that's just an inherent part of cohabitating with a monogamous partner long term). and they are just that, quirks that are very minor things. the big important stuff we are aligned on, and i think that's partially a result of us dating for ~5 years before we got married.

Most people feel compelled to get married. It’s what they have been raised to believe and what they think is expected of them by their peers. Few choose to marry based on compatibility or pure love as the motivating factor.

And forgot my bluetooth headphones again at home.

Why can't my phone just have a simple headphone jack, who the fuck makes these decisions?

So either buy appropriate USB C dongle and use any 3.5mm jack headphones you like. Or by cheap USB C headphones.

This. My cousin has done it... 3 times now? :disgust:

Also this. I, for one, don't care that there is no longer a headphone jack. And I'm as much a luddite as they come.

Hello, weathermonkey representing the central Ontario region reporting for doodie. Today it is a balmy -9c with varying snow flurries in the air. I expect a high of IDGAF today.

One hawk spotted in the trees on the way to work.

Someone has parked their coffee mug in the coffee machine and walked away. WHO DOES THAT
Hey my buddy is in Sudbury working the next couple days. Is there anything worthwhile to experience up there?

Loaning out my trail tools to the local land conservancy today. They keep saying they have a budget for buying tools yet they keep borrowing mine. Hopefully I get my prototype tool sorted into a workable unit and then I'll make a bunch and sell them to the conservancy.

I've only been to Sudbury a few times so don't have much insider knowledge.

But there is Science North, if they're into that sort of thing - https://www.sciencenorth.ca/ https://www.sciencenorth.ca/dynamic-earth#cage

There are a few places to xc ski and snowshoe and I think one place rents fatbikes..

You know, I'm an idiot for not knowing or thinking about that those might exist.

Thank you
Wife and I use these with our Galaxy phones no issue:

For pure dongles there's two types, active and passive. Active have a DAC to convert to your "old" 3.5mm audio signal, passive is just straight through as the device has the DAC. My phone needs active, my Samsung tablet works with a passive...

If you need to be able to charge and use headphones at the same time, you'll need a dongle which has the usb-c passthrough and a 3.5mm jack.

Morning Monkeys.

Barely above freezing and my windshield is a frozen mess. Was having issues remoting in, so I came in to the office. I have some lab stuff to do, so I have work, but would rather be home.

Supposed to get down to 26 this weekend, brrr.

did I drop my side of plantains (to accompany my usual quesabirria tacos and a flan) on the stairs in the hospital?

yes

did it fall way over to the side where no one probably steps?

yes

is it in a clinical care area?

no, so probably only normal-sickness workers.

conclusion: I ate them.
