Sweet!

But what's really strange is that I got an actual porn pop-up after downloading this page   I guess a higher power is trying to say something about that bike :thumb:

Wow, I'm pretty sure the bike I used to race XC (and podiumed with) was heavier than that. Nice ride.

That is an amazingly beautiful bike - and it looks like it'll be fast as hell too.

Orange needs to build a bigger presence in the states........I'm really liking their bikes!

i have an honest question about the Orange frames. The pivot looks small and I dont see any other swing link to take some strain off the main pivot. Especially given the fact how high up the rear swing arm arches. Are those frames laterally stiff? How many bearings make up the pivot?

Thanks!

glad to see more people are getting slider+. SUCH A BETTER FORK THEN THE BOXXER and about as light if not lighter. I have a gemini which is pretty much and orange ripoff with a slider+ and I LOVE IT SOO MUCH. hopefulyl youll feel the same about yours. My bike weighs 38 total but i don't even have that light of a build (could have lighter a bit). How much does that beast weigh? What amazes me is peaty's is 9INCHES OF TRAVEL and like 34ibs (so i hear).

The pivots are actually quite large (32mm i believe). They do not require anything larger as they use a system called horiz-hold. Essentially, there is an axle carrier welded into the swingarm. The axle passes through this and rides on the 2 bearings in the outside of the swingarm. (actually they may be doubled up, i am not certain, haven't pulled mine out in a while).

I would say that it is probably the STIFFEST rear end ever created.

Here is what orange has to say:

"The unique welded Horiz-Hold pivot is still the key to the accuracy of the chassis’ tracking and the huge 32mm diameter pivot bearings are still resolutely keeping the back-end in check, long after the multi-pivot competition has rattled its way to needing replacement bushings."

Just an FYI, although similar in function, the Orange and Gemini are pretty much black and white. The similarties really do stop once you get over the fact they are unassisted single pivots.

From pivot location to geometry to travel, its a VERY different handling/feeling bike.

Both equally great bikes in the hands of the right pilot (aka, not me)

Oh, and quite your whining about boxxers, mine is smooth and clunkless compared to your slider plus. (what is that annoying knock when it changes direction?) Regardless, I say its basically a formula of rider and bike not breaking during the race run.

I guess they are different but quite your whining your just mad cause your stuck with a boxxer and not a slider with SPV YUMMY....

hmm also i bet u paid about 2k for drilling, black boxxing etc. just to get your fork to work correctly hahah. I prefer riding my fork more then working on it especially when it doesn't bob and is just as light...

God bless big hit single pivots...On a sidenote, I wonder if they would make a Winston Churchill 'signature' series and paint it like a RAF Hawker Hurricane or Spitfire? You would then be allowed to run over anybody on a Nicolai

Seriously, that rig is the mutts nuts...Btw, where exactly do you live in Boulder - I need the street address and normal work schedule (plus any alarm codes you might have for el casa)...

Honostly, I'm not jelous of not being on an SPV equipped fork at all. I think its a really cool technology, but until I had it on the trail and was sure I couldn't feel that crazy clunk through the handlebars, I'm not too sure about it. Plus I DO think it takes away from small bump sensitivity, something I don't want...yet.

Everything you wrote me about my boxxer has been wrong. I've done NO work to it, had NO problems with it, ridden it HARD...its just been great, and very easy to tune.

Yes, it is also an 04 with no mods required, just ride.

Ask Sam Hill (he was on an identical 04 boxxer last year) or any number of big name pros if its holding them back...(cept rennie, carter or hill this year...those are CRAZY forks)

you know im just being my punk 15 year old self. I am actually looking forward to rock shox 2005 product. Im mighty interested now that sram has taken over. I always thought the boxxer WC had a major high bling bling factor and always liked the weight and the performance. I have to admit though im actually not liking the clanking that much but I assure you with a slider+ set up correctly( took me a while) there isnt small bump sensativity loss in my opinion. But its all opinion like you guys know but don't take me seriously Im just a punk who talks trash. I did the EXACT same about slider+ when i had my 04 super t just talkin trash is all. Good times good times. Dream set up for me would actaully be a BOXXER WC with a blingin silver chris king 20mm front hub. (actually even though it wouldnt match gold would be ghetto with a gold grille in my teeth)

If you tune out that small loss of bump sensitivity in an SPV fork, you have just tuned out the advantage of having an SPV fork...

If you'de read into my other posts you'de realize my underlining point is a lot of people here seem to think WHAT you ride is actually more important than RIDING.

Prime example...Metal

Just get used to what you're riding and rip it...everything is out now a days is good enough that it's probably not holding YOU back.

Ok, now to answer all questions.....

Weight 36 lbs

Fork Ultra stiff and extremely tunable, on chatters, it's a little rougher than my boxxer was, but nothing that can't be dealt with, but when the bumps get big, I'll take this fork over the boxxer I ran last year any day.

Brakes Never ridden HOPE before, but has a nice firm and consistant feel. Came pre-bled, so I used Stick on Cable stops (Recommended by Acadian :thumb: ) but on non-bled brakes like Hayes or XT's, I used a sharpened spoke and a flashlight to get it through, smae as for der housing.

Purchased I ride for Orange, so I purchased it through them direct, but last year I had a 222 and purchased it through the fix (http://www.rythmcycles.com)

I would recommend this bike to anyone, has a low bottom bracket, long wheelbase and slack head angle and is great for pedaling, high speed, and cornering. So far, this bike has carried me to a 29th place finish at Sea Otter in Semi-pro.

Specs:
Head Angle 63
Chainstays 18"
Wheelbase 46"
BB Height 13.75"

Suspension Settings:
Rear
350 LBS Spring X 2.75 Stroke (Yes, shorter than OEM)
Manitou Swinger 4-way Volume fully dialed in
110-120 LBS pressure
Front
Soft springs
30 PSI

Me, I'm 5'6" and a whopoping 143 LBS
