Played a bit of The Division 2 online co-op last night, which is premised on a pandemic plunging the US into civil war. You'll occasionally come across flashbacks to the time before the crisis and hear sentences like "this is just like the flu, everything will be back to normal in two weeks". The first one must be even more eerie, as it is set in NY instead of DC.

A friend has recommended The Dog Stars and says it’s eerily relevant.
Dude's a great writer. I read The Dog Stars and The Painter, which I liked a whole lot too.

On topic, William Gibson's latest series The Peripheral and Agency describe the slow-motion apocalypse that wipes out 70% of humanity, which, coincidently, includes plague-y elements among others such as global warming, environmental degradation, class warfare, and financial collapse eloquently described as "The Jackpot."
