Dude! You live in the UK!? DID you get your bike from Ged? How much did it run you?AR_ said:Don't see why you couldn't on a mini-link, rholoffs are only QR. I'de Love one on my racelink, all this mech **** does my bleedin nut in. Although even if they made a 12mm rholoff, it would still cost stupid amounts of money.
Ah greetings fellow er... person from the UK.Horrendous Hack said:Dude! You live in the UK!? DID you get your bike from Ged? How much did it run you?
And son, you have a Race Link, the cost of the Rohloff is insignifigant compared (unless you had to sell a kidney for the frame).
Got pics?
Oh sorry. I'll search the thread.AR_ said:Ah greetings fellow er... person from the UK.
I didn't get it from Ged, ran me £1250 shipped imported from the US. Second hand.
And yeah, when the hub costs over half what i payed for the frame, and i dont own that much after buying the brooklyn, its bloody significant!
Pic's are somewhere in this thread, but i'l try dig some out and send you them if you like?
do you mean this kind of link? http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap5.htmlEl Magnifico said:hello, i'm a newbie in the forum. I really LOVE the BMWs, but i don't have the money for one of this pearls. Could someone put a photo of the links of the Race Link with the measurements? I want to make someones for my BMW prototype. Thanks for show all the last photos ( I hope to see more photos of the race link ).
lol, I was waiting for that one.tmx said:do you mean this kind of link? http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap5.html
i think it was in 1997 or 98 when brooklyn built their first DH bike (the supertrucker) with a nexxus(sp?) internal hub. haven't seen anything of the sort since. doubtful it's ever far from bklyn's designing/riding minds though.Duzitall said:Anyone ever try a Roloff on a Brooklyn?

LOL. It's good to be back. I went off riding because I couldn't for a few months, still can't. Found this thread, saw Brooklyns, wanted to ride.tmx said:i think it was in 1997 or 98 when brooklyn built their first DH bike (the supertrucker) with a nexxus(sp?) internal hub. haven't seen anything of the sort since. doubtful it's ever far from bklyn's designing/riding minds though.
horrendous the tremendous, nice to see you in here again. i think the hitman is still in the works, just moving kinda slow as they're busy churning out more racelinks and a few other goodies, like the street sweeper and the fq.
Sounds like my kinda frame.tmx said:you need a pedal wrench and some torque.
i think the hitman will be geared toward the burl-hungry big hitters. my guess is something like an upgraded TMX, link suspension and more muscle.
Horrendous Hack said:Oh sorry. I'll search the thread.
How are you liking the Race Link? Alright for UK riding? Hope you are using it to it' potentil. £1250 is a great deal BTW.
AR_ said:Mate, this bike is the ****in tits. Took it to bringewood a couple of days ago, first proper dh test, absolutely loved the thing. Me and edd (Both on Racelinks) In a tight train down the trails, like a thundering train. To say everyone on the course moved in a split second, understatement.
Anyone who thinks bikes like this are no good for uk dh are talking out of there arse, right out of there arse. Me and edd, without sounding too big headed, were pretty damn faster than everyone else on shorter travel, apprently more "appropriate" uk dh rigs, just due to the sheer fact the faster we went the better these bikes feel!
I'de like to hope im using it to it's potential, although truth be told i've still not found any limit to what this thing can do. Anyhow, enough of blowing sunshine up my bikes arse, for the uk its brill, just like anywhere else.

El Magnifico said:No, i'm talking about the links ( shock link and the other ) that the race link uses. I'm making my BMW race link for a school's project. I don´t want to buy BMW´s copies.
Shortbus said:1- I don't think they're for sale
2- In good ol' America, there's this thing called Copyright.
I think that's what tmx was gently eluding to
so you are asking for the measurements of the links used on the racelink, not the complete frame specs. correct? or the complete measurements of the entire frame? i'm curious to hear about your studies that would lead you to making a few links, or a complete bike. at what level are you in your studies? why have you chosen the links of this bike to duplicate? (or the complete bike, if that's the case.) will you be doing all the machining for the project? are you making a different frame but with brooklyn links? or putting bklyn links on a pre-existing frame from another manufacturer? if you're making a complete bike (copied frame or original design with bklyn links), do you plan on riding it?El Magnifico said:I try to say " I don't want to sell BMW Race Link copies ". I only need the measurements of the links used by the race link. If I make my links with the same measurements, it will be a law's violation?. ( Is only for a school´s project ).

I hate this thread. You only have to flick through it to want a Brooklyn. I've always wanted one and with this thread = Arghhhh!AR_ said:Mate, this bike is the ****in tits. Call the guyz at BMW, they're supernice, and they'll tell you what's best. Maybe they'll give you a hint on when the Hitman hits usHorrendous Hack said:I hate this thread. You only have to flick through it to want a Brooklyn. I've always wanted one and with this thread = Arghhhh!
I have enough money for the frame and fork (DHF 8Mt) but I have only just made my current bike really. I will have to wait. It is so frustrating. .
Should I just buy the frame anyway and wait (or wait for the Hitman)?
Haha. It 'only' costs £2100 from BMW themselves. If I could find a way to get around customs I would be alright.AR_ said:May aswell get the racelink mate, its SO versatile. I can see the hitman being very very "Lob off a house" orientated.. The racelink can be lobbed off houses, raced down courses, ridden to the shops (Alright not a good idea, but how much slicker do you look? )

Looks good when going to the shops? Thats what I like. You gotta roll in style.
Hmm unless Ged will do e like £2400 on the frame I will get from America. That way I can get the fork fitted at the same time...?
P.S Pimp ride, forks not big enough, the frame dwarfs it.
Only for the links measurements.tmx said:so you are asking for the measurements of the links used on the racelink, not the complete frame specs. correct? or the complete measurements of the entire frame?

I chosen this bike 'cus I LOVE IT, but I don't have the money to buy one . I will be doing all the machining in my house. The frame specs are my personal preferences, and YES, I WANT TO RIDE IT :dancing:.tmx said:why have you chosen the links of this bike to duplicate? You're right. I will send them a e-mail to be sure. Thank you for your time. Photos of my project soon...tmx said:any questions about the legal ramifications of copying a design can be answered in the link previously provided. my guess is brooklyn couldn't care less about it, but why not call or write them just to be sure.
I didn't think in that. You and TMX ( aka Chromagoddness ) are right. I send a e-mail to BMW. I will wait for the answer ( I hope ). Thank you very much guys !!! I will be back.binary visions said:
All measurements like this should come directly from the manufacturer, for two reasons.
A) These are reasonably tight tolerances here. You should get an accurate measurement, not someone holding a wooden ruler next to the link and saying "Ehhh.. It's pretty close to three inches. Three and a little bit."
B) The manufacturer is going to be the person who will tell you either: "Okay, so this is for a school project, that's okay we've got no problem with it, have fun", or, "Please talk to our lawyer."
Best had be, we'll send the boys round if we think your holding back any vital information :evil:El Magnifico said:PHOTOS OF MY PROJECT COMING SOON...
You just know BMW and Avalanche worked to together so the frame look best with an Avalanche fork.AR_ said:Rollni' in style to the shops is my main priority. Afterall, this bike jumps off kerbs and runs over grannies like an absolute minx!
'Only', hehe. Bah, pocket change mate
Im not sure with regard to what Ged will do... Obviously he imports them himself, and the retail here for £3100 ish (IIRC), but i found no worries importing second hand. Had a little customs whoopseedaisy, but it was all sorted out.. Thankgod they didn't cross referance the cost of the frame with the declared value Doing that i saved myself a lotta dollar, but buying from brooklyn direct to the uk, they might just tell you to go to Ged.
Thanks about the ride, never thought the frame dwarfs the forks though, maybe just the look of the picture. Brooklyns and Avys go together like chips and gravy (Great), but that was a little too much too soon.. maybe in the future.
