Its because they dont advertise. They dont really need to. If you look at the mags the bikes reveiwed usually have a big advertisment in it also.tmx said:I don't fully comprehend mtn bike magazines in the US avoiding Brooklyn like the plague. (Exception, of course, the great shot of Doc in Mountain Biking from US Open. Many thanks to Alan Davis and crew.) Do any of you have an idea why this might be? If so, please shed some light.
i don't think its a conscious bias on the part of domestic publications. a few possible reasons:tmx said:I don't fully comprehend mtn bike magazines in the US avoiding Brooklyn like the plague.
tmx said:Good point. However not valid across the board because I know of other small DH bike companies that are covered with some frequency yet do not advertise.
They are few and far between plus they probably still think they are heavy as they used to be. Just not informed.
More good points....but all that holds true with the UK/Euro magazines yet it doesn't stop them from putting Bklyn in their pages.xy9ine said:i don't think its a conscious bias on the part of domestic publications. a few possible reasons:
-no pro riders in the media / lack of public exposure / visibility / recognition.
-no print advertising: companies that regularily spend $$ on advertising are most likely going to see more exposure in reviews, etc.
-the boutique factor: high price / limited availability - magazine reviewing is typically biased towards rides that are readily available & realistically affordable to a larger skew of the readership. there are lots of cool small companies out there that rarely see magazine exposure.
etc...
some ppl are destined to have a bmw. I had never seen one in person and never talked to anyone who ever owned one. For two years I had a photo of one printed out off the internet and hanging above my desk at work. I ended up buying that exact frame - spooky or Anthony Robbins type stuff ??AR_ said:Do they even need coverage?
I'm not sure about you, but i heard about Brooklyn completely through word of mouth, and this runs true with 99% of people i've spoken to about them. I think it adds a certain "Ha! In your face!" factor too, when you can sit back and say "Yeah, we're so popular 'cos we make rockin' products. Not because we spent thousands on a rediculous marketing campaign to cover every other page in every magazine in the world".
The Racelink (DH model) may vary from 44-50+ depending on your parts. mine is 47 as pictured in my sig and 46+ with 2.5/2.35 tires. It really does feel and pedal much lighter due to the fact that alot of your energy goes straight to the rear wheel and not pedal bob.tmoney727t said:how are BMW's weight. They look extremly heavy like 50+lbs, The DH model at least.
No, you're too sexy for US mags.Shortbus said:Brooklyn is too sexy for US mags
is there a WC air in your future?sikocycles said:Mine is pretty light and it will lose around 3 lbs with a Boxxer WC.

I vote for a complete deletion so we can go back to talking about our bikes in other threads and start many others as well. That would really piss the haters off, eh? :love:DirtyMike said:Will this thread Ever Die off???
The alternative is having anywhere from 2-10 bmw threads going at any one time like the mind numbing Avy Cult* members do. That would really wear out our welcome and do more harm than good. Allowing us to keep ourselves self-contained is tops. I think this thread has become accepted as a part of the RM DH landscape. We ain't harmin' anybudy.DirtyMike said:Will this thread Ever Die off???
