but with Truvativ's you get a lame 53mm chainline instead of 56.ummm no. everbody and there mother makes a 83mm bb and they also make the internal bearing and crank combos. for fsa you have the gravity and the gap crank set. then you have all the raceface line, shimano saint and hone, and then i think truvative makes them too im just not 100% on which model. so there out there man you just got to dig for them sometimes.
time to look for a new shop-quote from the bike shop (with that bottom bracket, the only thing that differentiates between a 73 and an 83mm is the sleeve, which i will reuse) (thread depth on the cups is identical) (i contacted FSA to make sure)
this is what the bike shop told me so i guess 73 mm will work on an 83mm bottom bracket for a sunday... can anyone confirm this?
IT WILL NOT WORK... YOUR FRAME REQUIRES AN 83MM BOTTOM BRACKET SHELL, NOT A 68, NOT A 73... 83MM ONLY!so i 73mm wont work then? i emailed them and said not to order it a week ago then they tell me todays its in and that it will work.. im not sure what to do, its gonna cost 117$ cnd plus service probably and its not even the correct 83mm for an ironhorse sunday.. what should i do can someone confirm for sure if this will work or not
How about a 100mm?IT WILL NOT WORK... YOUR FRAME REQUIRES AN 83MM BOTTOM BRACKET SHELL, NOT A 68, NOT A 73... 83MM ONLY!
Ding Ding Ding.....We have a winner!!!!...FSA Gap cranks DONT come in a 83mm BB compatible spindle.
YOUR CRANKS WILL NOT WORK ON A 83mm BB SUNDAY
the fsa website says they dont make 83mm BB version, i guess they could be OEMFSA Gap's do exist in 83mm, they're a really nice crankset for 07 and come on the 07 Sunday Team. Not sure if you can buy them aftermarket (in 83mm) from FSA though.
But yeah, like everyone has said a million times - you need an 83mm crankset for a sunday, 68/73mm sets won't work. Nice to see it's sinking in for this guy eh...
Here's a good question. The cups are identical on a bb with a 68/73mm shell, and that of one with an 83mm shell, the only difference is the center piece, which does nothing, FSA themselves said to reuse the sleeve from his old bb, how do I know? because I was beside the other mechainic from our shop when they called, so before you open your mouths and make a dammed fool out of yourself by saying it won;t work, or get a new shop, do some research like we at the shop have already done.
No, he just phrased his question/s INCREDIBLY vaguely up until post #34 where he finally mentioned his exact problem and what he was intending to do, to which I replied (in post #35) saying that it's fine.
For one, who still uses ISIS bbs in full on dh bikes anymore, those of you who do, your bike is not what it should be, two, he never once said it was ISIS, so those of you whom assumed they were, well we all know what happens when you assume things.Excatly..there was NO mention of the fact that the cranks in question were OEM only 83mm cranks with using hollowtech/x-type bb. That is why there are so many varied responses...all correct within the information given by the O.P. As you can see mr shop guy, most thought the cranks were ISIS and the O.P. said nothing to the contrary.
