The carbon Head tube is interesting. I don't have a problem with it but you would think it easier to get your tolerances right on an ally cup then bond that in rather than do it in situ like that.
It's quite easy to get tollerances right on carbon, we do pretty tight tollerances on it in F1 all the time.

I think it's a good move not to have an alloy insert in there tbh. Alloy and carbon never really go well together for long life permanent fixtures. If they were to put in a metal headset insert they'd be better off using titanium. It does look like they've added a layer or two of glass fibre at the headset interface surfaces anyway which is also a smart move.

From what I've seen and from a composites design perspective the carbon V-10 is good. Including the headtube, as long as the Cane Creek Anglesets hold up.

I like this bike a lot. Good work Santa Cruz!

Now we just have to wait and see how long it takes SC to get these into production substantial enough for public release. If you recall the story of the "new" V10's time to get out to the market.

Then again, I won't do business with SC. They so substantially pissed me off that they could be handing out free V10's with handjobs and big bags of coke and I'd pass.

i kept waiting for over 6 months for the original V10 from their initial "release" date
I've told my story before, but the long/short version is that I ordered mine, had a promised date for the frame, it came and went, saw the frame at the Sea Otter, and then almost had to beat the hell out of their rep when he started running his little emo homo mouth.

I have a short temper, and I like to fight, but never in my life have I wanted to hurt someone so badly. **** that company.

Chris let me ride this thing around the e.thirteen/Hive paddock a bit and I must say, Roskopp did his homework when it came to the geo. :thumb:

OGRipper was the main pilot for this rig during the Open and he seemed super stoked on it.

Congrats to Roskopp and the team at SC - well done! :)

Observation FAIL..... you failed to note what country eater calls home:think:
I bet his English is better than your Swiss:D
there is no such thing as a swiss language, they speak either german, french or italian. if eater comes from the part where they speak german, then both of them will get along fine. sethimus is german. ;)

Great, so don't buy one. Also don't continue bitching, nor threatening to sue people (online no less) for not delivering your vital-to-your-survival BICYCLE on time, nor threatening to beat people up for not tolerating your retarded attitude.

there is such a thing as a swiss language: Romansh. It's the fourth official language of the country, and only spoken that region.

NORCAL is the hizzle
though the carbon version is new, in 10" mode, the bike is essentially like the prior version
There are a lot of differences beyond the carbon front end, from hardware to geometry to adjustability to suspension. There's plenty of detailed info around if you want to check it out.

geometry has nothing to do on how the bike is put together, which is where m original comment came from in the Revolt thread.

right here -> .
This geography lesson is fascinating and all but can someone please post up some new info on the bike or some cool photos we haven't seen yet to get us back on topic. I am starting to loose wood. Thanks.

Do you think that santa cruz will continue to make the aluminum V10 after the carbon one is available like they do for the Nomad?
Hadn't really thought about that one...Seeing as they "claim" they will be selling the Carbon for the same price as the previous Aluminum versions, one would think they would have to substantially reduce the price of the Alum model for any to sell.

Hey, if you make a promise, deliver what you said what you'd do.

Otherwise, I hope SC goes down in flames. I know it won't because there are far too many fan boys, and in truth Roskopp is a pretty good guy, but he needs to take a long look at his HR policies and who he hires.

I do think SC will still offer Alu version as there are still many riders who don't want to or are afraid to buy carbon frame.
I'd think they'd have to. Some folk just aren't build for carbon, or carbon's just not built for some folk.

From what I hear they hire the person that can hold the hit in the longest.
No, really.

BikeRadar: Will the alloy V-10 be phased out and replaced with the carbon, or will you continue to offer both?
Roskopp: We have no plans to make an alloy V-10. The V-10 is the flagship race bike and there’s no reason to make a ‘normal’ one when the price of the carbon one is going to be pretty much the same as the current alloy one, so I think people are going to be pretty happy about that.

From BikeRadar's interview.

They have my respect for going with carbon into DH, but based on that interview my impression is they present themselves like somewhat carbon pioneers in DH. Why? Because not mentioning Lahar or GT, and not mentioning Martin Varga who made his carbon replica of Nomad with their little help.
