Hm. I bought my Nicolai HT and since then, I've been obsessed with short chainstays. I need to borrow someone's long-ass DH bike and perhaps re-think my take on it. Maybe I'd love a bike with 18" chainstays...maybe that's why I'm so slow...my bike is too unstable. And it's not like I can manual anyhow.

Hmmm.

I can manual my bike( well a little) the stays are just so friggin long and the wheelbase extends so by the time you're in position the stays must be like 19" or more  . Again it works but it's a bastard.

I was majorly impressed with the ability to manual the demo-9....(I was impressed with the whole bike though)
I wish I had the opportunity to ride more bikes though to compare with.

Quit the bullshyt you limey little prick. Sarcasm needs to be ab bit more clever than you're high school banter. If you don't like the humor on this yank forum then maybe there's a bloody tea party forum for you click here

Then maybe you could help a Yank out and show me which one of your posts was the funny, witty, ironic, or cleverly sarcastic one? :thumb:

Seems even Tom (in the UK) isn't getting "the Piss" either.

But the bike looks great!! I'm looking forward to seeing it Interbike.

My balfa has some long stays and i love the bike, it's super stable. It's just that for freeriding I'd like something a bit more manual friendly. I'll have to give the guy a shout again and see what's up.

Do you have a BB7? Cause they are pretty short. They just extend as you lean back so you it's harder to manual them.

I'm hooked on short chainstays too. I had a S8 with adjustable chainstay length. I couldn't believe how much better it rode in the short setting.

Wirly; as I have said, and will say again; Intelligence, wit, sarcasm, humour and irony, and the sense to tell when someones taking the piss, are lost on most yanks...

I think you're Oreo whatever, not sure, but I know you're a punk and I don't care what side of the "pond" you come from. You suck. You've got nothing to do but try to get a rise of people trying to get a little fix for their bike tech jones. Stay away or be ignored...or banned, but then you'll just log on as someone else, you coward. Show some respect and maybe you'll earn some.

Clown.

I'm still not seein' anyone, Euro, Brit, African, S. American, Aussie, Kiwi, Asian, or Yank picking up any of those thing from your posts. So if it's just you thinkin' you have any of that goin' on you may want to take a little time-out to rethink it. Just a Yank's opinion.

Oh, and I'd put money on you not bein' Brit, because you're right, Brits are generally funny as hell.

its definatly oreo, notice the lack of intelligence, bad additude, poor use of humor, and he swears too much in one post to be taken seriously.

That report bad post button has never looked more tempting. I really do like the dark, but as many have said, I would like shorter stays. I can't manual my friends BB7 worth ****, and it feels a bit too truckish though tight sections, but thats just me. I do love steel though, everything else looks sweet.

Thanks for reminding me. I was sitting trying to wade through too many useless posts to count.

Pretty sweet bike. I was looking at them when they first got some play time on nsmb. For now they one-offs but I don't know how custom they will make them. Due to my height a tall bike doesn't bug me to much, but 3000$ is too expensive for my thriftiness. Considering it is made on the shore I am surprised by the long chainstays.

Is this going to turn into another "British Thread"
yeah I was thinking the same thing.

Currently Bored, rest assured there are plenty of yanks who get brit humor. 'The Office' on BBC America is watched by countless millions ( :D ), and Eddie Izzard gets huge audiences over here too. Of course, most Americans somehow think that Home Improvement is a comedy (WTF?). Have you watched Curb Your Enthusiasm, btw?

Anyway, i like this frame from the photos but seems kinda light for a steel frame w/ that many junctions and tubes.

And there is one Greek in Britain that understands both UK and US humor, and rest assured "Bored" that your posts contain neither...

Now with respect to the frame, it looks supernice, i just wonder how it rides and what are the advantages over allu.

When i measured mine they came in at 18" before sag. Then again i do have the risse on the back so maybe it's a bit shorter and extending the wheelbase  I'll have to look into this.

That doesn't sound right. The claimed length is 16.9" but that is with sag. At rest, I measured mine at 16.75"

They are hard to manual because it grows as you lean back.
I just put together my GF's new Turner last night and I couldn't believe how easy it was to manual and wheelie.

Hey guys, the frame weight is just under 12lbs, and that's with a Fox DHX 5.0 with a steel spring.

Some critical specs:

Head Angle = 66-67deg.
Chainstay = 17.7"
WheelBase = 45.25"
BB Height = 15"
Seat Tube = 17.5"
8.5" Rear wheel Travel

So, as you can see, the Scarab is on the smaller side of DH bikes. Many people seem to be worried that it's some huge stretch limo.

Me and my buddy switched bikes on a ride, he has a Norco Shore. Going back to the Scarab from a Shore was like going from a MTB to a BMX bike. It's really compact, and has gobs of standover clearance.

We'll have catalogues made up in a few weeks, and will distribute them to shops and folks who request one.
