because you haven't rooted it yet. do that, then you can delete it. i'd recommend just installing ti backup, and just freeze the processes.Verizon Android runs a bunch of useless crap in the background. Why oh why can't I just delete this ****? At least on the older OS I could disable it on the command line. Fcuking verizon.
That's another thing that keeps me stuck on the Blackberry. And I still don't understand why an iphone can't just take any mp3 and say "set as ringtone". or add an attachment to an email that you are replying to.
How do you root it? I have some worthless crap that came on my Droid X I want to get rid of, like Madden 11 & Blockbuster.because you haven't rooted it yet. do that, then you can delete it. i'd recommend just installing ti backup, and just freeze the processes.
5-6 easy steps...How convenient!making a custom ringtone for the iphone is actually pretty easy., though it does take 5-6 easy steps. hell, theres even a app to show you how to.
easiest way is z4root. google for the spk file (install for 'droid). you'll need to get an app installer from the android market in order to install it IIRC.How do you root it? I have some worthless crap that came on my Droid X I want to get rid of, like Madden 11 & Blockbuster.

That article has some valid points and draws on past experience which is fine. However one thing it lacks is a look forward. It does not try to look at what happens with future products and services which can effect all of the conclusions much more than the current state of the market. Apple show best how a device as the Ipad can make big changes. I personally think the platform is much less important and there are potential for a lot of changes in the market, I also think the article needs to apply a world wide view as the US cell phone market as big as it might be is still a small piece of the global market.I haven't had a BB for a few months and the only thing I've noted in the past few years is their marketshare. They lost their way years ago.
Latest news not good for RIM or Apple:
latest stats i saw for verizon iphone is that its sales aren't as high as expected, and is being outsold by an HTC device. and has had little overall effect on apple's market shareI like how the article last references february and fails completely to mention that the iphone is now in verizon and is suddenly available to what... twice as many customers as of march? I think those figures might change a bit in the coming months.
Also, Syadasti was an RIM homer for the longest. Apple would NEVER pass them bye, but now apparently he just switched teams. And who even cares who has more of the market share? Does the fact that more people buy crap mean something?
Actually I posted in a related thread a few months ago. I'm not metrosexual dramaqueen that needs his own thread declaring I purchased common new product. I never posted a dedicated thread when I bought new computers, cars, etc - I don't need to be validated...especially on a biking forumAgain, I dont really care who sells more. That influences my life in no way whatsoever. I just think it's funny how quiet syadasti was about jumping ship.
I rooted when I first got it. Then Froyo hit and the old program didn't work anymore. I'll try Z4, thanks.easiest way is z4root. google for the spk file (install for 'droid). you'll need to get an app installer from the android market in order to install it IIRC.
once you have z4 installed, just run the program, and hit the button that says root.
be forewarned, once you root, you may have issues installing carrier supplied updates. there are work arounds, but tend to be more in depth.

Actually I've stated several times over the years I was waiting for my BB to die to ditch RIM since they've fallen behind long ago, I guess you just can't read? Rather than wasting money and making more ewaste, I actually used my phone until it was in bad shape on its second battery. My Pearl lasted me until February (over 3.5 years) when I got an LG Optimus (low-end but bought due to a $25/month unlimited everything plan other than voice 300 minutes - actually $15/month cheaper than my Pearl plan which was unlimited email only with 300 minutes and I have better service overall). Enjoy being screwed by both Apple and the majors carriers with their monopolistic benefits to themselves.Who you crappin' ?
Practically the only time you ever post is to slam some product (apple, toyota, etc.) but Im being "validated" by teasing you with a thread? I could give two sh*ts what you or any person here buys or uses.

Thought it'd be funny to start a thread since you were gargling blackberry's ballsack for so long.
it amuses my childrenWhat kind of cocks worry about ringtones anyways?
They may be laughing at you, not with you...it amuses my children
Finally someone said it...What kind of cocks worry about ringtones anyways?
Ha ha! you have a zune!!After about 3 weeks with my HTC EVO 4G with Android 2.2, I honestly don't know how I settled on anything else beforehand. Incredible, incredible phone. with the 32gb card in there, it's conveniently combined my gps, Zune and phone all in 1 unit. Awesome.
Gartner Says Android to Command Nearly Half of Worldwide Smartphone Operating System Market by Year-End 2012
Egham, UK, April 7, 2011- Worldwide smartphone sales will reach 468 million units in 2011, a 57.7 percent increase from 2010, according to Gartner Inc. By the end of 2011, Android will move to become the most popular operating system (OS) worldwide and will build on its strength to account for 49 percent of the smartphone market by 2012 (see table 1)
"By 2015, 67 percent of all open OS devices will have an average selling price of $300 or below, proving that smartphones have been finally truly democratized," said Roberta Cozza, principal analyst at Gartner.
"As vendors delivering Android-based devices continue to fight for market share, price will decrease to further benefit consumers", Ms. Cozza said. "Android's position at the high end of the market will remain strong, but its greatest volume opportunity in the longer term will be in the mid- to low-cost smartphones, above all in emerging markets."
Gartner predicts that Apple's iOS will remain the second biggest platform worldwide through 2014 despite its share deceasing slightly after 2011. This reflects Gartner's underlying assumption that Apple will be interested in maintaining margins rather than pursuing market share by changing its pricing strategy. This will continue to limit adoption in emerging regions. iOS share will peak in 2011, with volume growth well above the market average. This is driven by increased channel reach in key mature markets like the U.S. and Western Europe.

Gartner's worldwide projections are out...
