I volunteer with, and am a board member on, a local non-profit that brings a science speaker to a local brew-pub every 2nd Sunday of the month. Our group is Anchorage Science Pub, also known as Alaska Science Pub. We reach out to the scientific community for speakers and topics, try to promote science and generally all things related to it. Specifically, I organize a quiz that we give before the presentation where the attendees will compete for a prize, drink tokens, etc. Then we grade the quizes, present the winner and answers at the end. Often the audience is made up of like-minded scientists and others that are interested in science. The founder (left to go down south) was an auto-mechanic that simply had an interest in science. Listening to the scientists every month I get so fed up with the bullshit from people in the news that don't want to listen to science, but instead want to go with what they "feel".

This could also go in the "It's not all bad news" thread. Team name:
