Approximate scene from Desperate Living:

"What did you do with my baby?!?!?!"

"I dunno, I'm trippin..., Hey, got any downers?"

"You put my baby in the refrigerator, eat some dogfood, bitch, eat it!'

"mMMFFFMMMM....."

"...and that's why the call me the Dogfood murderess..."

Same with the book. I think I remember reading that and crying when I was like 12. Maybe not adult, but it would probably have the same effect now.

Movies:Thin Red Line, Donnie Darko, Sophie's Choice, Blade Runner are a few

Tons of good ones so far. Some I don't think I saw listed yet are Raising Arizona, the original Terminator, Eraserhead, Pink Flamingos, Being There, and A Christmas Story "It was soap poisoning!"

Really?

I thought it was just okay... 8/10 because it was different. But if there were lots of movies in that genre, just 6/10.
Eh, I gave Primer lots of points for making me think, and for being different and confusing. I thought I understood it when it was over, only to realize half an hour later that I needed to re-evaluate. I'm a fan of teh thinking movies.

Here's another one:
Breaker Morant

Dazed and Confused
- seemed to come out of nowhere to become a classic on Video/DVD with tons of upcoming actors.
Are you old as hell? Up and comers? They are established actors now. I wouldn't consider Ben Afleck or Matthew Mcconaughey "up and coming"

<edit> eh, you've got a decade on me. keep up if you can :)

I think you're thinking of something different. Romper Stomper is an Australian movie from 1992 about skinheads. Made Russell Crowe's name.
No, that's it, just got my dates wrong (used to watch with my aspiring skinhead wanna be friends)

add: Delicatessin (sp?)
Gummo (especially with that SLEEP song playing while they're riding their bikes...)
Naploeon Dynamite

Yeah, but they were up and comers at the time(1993)
Besides:
Matthew McConaughey
and Ben Affleck
who are almost unrecognizable

The following have all gone on to star in movies/tv shows
Jason London
Rory Cochrane
Adam Goldberg
Marissa Ribisi
Cole Hauser
Milla Jovovich
Joey Lauren Adams
Parker Posey
Nicky Katt

There's even rumor that Renée Zellweger was in the movie.
