flat(no mountains for 300+ miles) Houston,TX had a showing yesterday. I thought the Smith/Atherton section was pretty killer

It was a little short but the riding, the cinematography, and the locations were EPIC.
Yes to the above but the repetitive stunts got a bit lame to the point where they were more like fillers. The locations were epic but the potential was not realised and when the movie really kicked into gear at the end with Gee and co it just ended very abruptly.

Rating - 7/10

Flame away, it's my opinion based on the last three "collective" movies amongst others.

Ah yes, and the fact that a full house only got a couple of less than enthusiastic .......clap..........................clap..................clap pretty well summed it up really.

Just watched the premier tonight - save your money :brow:
I'm glad someone else feels the same. I thought it was decent, but not great. I agree that Gee's segment at the end was the best; the rest just seemed like the same ol' stuff. None of it really stunned me or amped me up to ride the way other movies in the past have.

Sam Hill's segment was particularly disappointing. I was really looking forward to seeing him ride a bunch, but I'd guess his segment was less than 3 minutes long.

I'm sure I'll get a double dose of flame-o-lition for saying the movie wasn't great and 'hating' on Sam Hill, so have at it, bros.

You're not hatin' on Sam but on the filmmakers vision instead. Nothing wrong with not liking a video. I think I'm going to buy it if nothing more than just to support the company so they can keep making these awesome films.

I'm glad there are others like me, I wasn't blown away by it either. The cinematography and locations were amazing, no denying that. The only sections I got into were the bike park, hill/vanderham, and gee/smith though. I thought the hill/vandheram section didn't live up to its potential, and athough the location for the gee/smith section was amazing, the footage was either dramatically sped up or slowed down. Slow-mo shots DH shots in moderation are rad, but sped up DH shots are always totally lame. It's entirely possible that I simply prefer WC race/rider movies, because the ho-hum freeride and bmx mountain biking just doesn't do it for me. There were certainly alot of cheers for the front flip hucks at the video premier I was at, but not a sound when fairclough front tire-tapped the backside of a ballsy gap at whistler. I guess I'm just not this movies audience.

I just saw this at Sea Otter and was totally blown away. It's a big step up from their last movies and the riding and cinematography is incredible. Great soundtrack too. I'm buying this on iTunes tmrw, especially if it's in HD!

Just saw the Vanderham vs Fairclough whipfest at whistler.. epic! kinda wish they it was separate from the other "bike park" segments that were spliced in..

After watching the mini-segments from the Coastal Crew, especially the one with Ghost Town pumping the soundtrack, I find my attention span waning after 5 minutes these days. Mini-shred internet vids get me pumped anymore now and not so much my full length vids.

I think videos need to develop a storyline to lead you toward a dramatic finale. Segments should have something related to one another that brings it all together and keeps you interested in the next development.

I think that's why I like Seasons and Tipping Point so much(somewhat of a storyline, leading to the finale of everyone shredding whistler together). Follow Me has a whole bike park segment that's just basically everyone from the video shredding different bike parks, but other than that i don't feel like there's much of a "storyline" per-say to follow me.

Story lines are cool but we all know deep down that bike videos are essentially porn. We don't really care about a good plot, just give us the action and the money shot.

I have more of a general itunes question. I've never purchased anything with itunes, other than apps for my iphone, if I purchase it with my laptop (I'm on vacation) can I access it on my desktop when i get home? or is it restricted to the computer I DL it on?

I'm just bitter that I haven't received my "pre-ordered" copy before it has been released on iTunes... hopefully it arrives soon.

man, I thought it was rad, brendogs section was insanity, and I liked matt hunters section too. I think fairclough was probably my favorite part of the whole thing, people were going wild for that at the premiere at sea otter.

yeah, but the compilation ones where they're all spliced already and there's 30+ scenes...you just start losing your "focus" and skip segments to get to what you need. :weee:

bike parks section was cool
atherton+smith and semenuk+smith sections were siiiick
some funny bits during the credits

for people new to itunes, if you want to burn it to dvd, or watch on a tv through xbox, you have to remove the DRM (easy google search will show you how).

I thought it was dope....the mexico section was a little lame, as was most of the music...i'm getting a little tired of rise against being in every DH movie for the last 8 years....

but, the movie was visuallly stunning and very well filmed...great perspectives....it wasn't showcasing the gnarliest DH trails of all time but i don't think that was the intention....i thought it was a great movie overall though....both of steve smith's sections were rad....

I just downloaded it from itunes, but it won't play. When I hit play the screen just stays black with no sound. I'm using a macbook pro btw. Is there some setting I need to disable on the computer or something, or did the download just mess up?

Watched over lunch. Yeah for being available on iTunes. I hope to see more there since I have an iPhone and it makes it so easy.

Movie was ok. I didn't expect it to change my life and it didn't. However I enjoyed most all of it expect McCaul. For some reason I just don't like his style. Whatever. Vanderham out rode Hill and as said before the Smith sections were the best.

Edit: Watched it in HD on my TV lastnight and its really nice quality. I hope to see more available in this format.

thankfully it wasn't sped up.... not sure why you would even think so.

perhaps your perception got a bit fooled when it went from slow motion back to full speed, but it was definitely not sped up.

as they said in the movie they only had 3 days to shoot with Sam and the weather was horrid so You get what you get unfortunately. A large part of that segment (most of Vanderham's part) was shot way early in the season before Thomas switched to Fox as a suspension sponsor... so Sam would not have even been around on those days.

I am not the biggest fan of the MTB dirt jump stuff but thought it was done well for what it is... some people like that stuff a ton so it's just different strokes... the exception to that rule would be Brandon Semenuk. That dude has so much style.

Best parts for me were Vanderham/Hill, Vanderham/Fairclough and Semenuk/Smith, Atherton/Smith

worth the $10 on itunes for sure

You get the SD file as well when you purchase the HD version on iTunes.
I think they do that so you can put the SD version on your ipod since it's
smaller.

I'm pretty sure we didn't watch this movie at the same time or the same place... My lasting memory of the movie was how the last section was ruined by how laughably sped up the footage was. This wasn't a case of good angles that capture speed or transitioning from slow to normal speed. Obviously we didn't see the same section the same way, so it's possible the projection screen and angle I was watching it from made it appear different. I certainly know what I saw though, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it...
