...man - I'm all about new and different looking designs, but I still say this thing looks wierd.

It's blue and the frame looks like it's pitching a tent...

...maybe they should call it the "Giant Viagra"

"Glory Hole" or the "Sunday Morning Wood" is just making it too obvious...

great sense of Humor...

i will say it looks like a "horny Donky"

The linkage does make a lot of sense but is sad that require such a radical execution, not to mension dangerous is you case it on something.

...that's an excellent point. Casing near the BB area could do some damage to the shock mount.

In Giant's defense I really want to like this bike - guess it will just take some getting used to. I used to think Demos looked ridiculous, until I understood their design... now I love em'...:D

all those frames look like A$$ imo, like they should be sold at walmart next to the pacificas and mongoose bikes. The fact that they ride like $hit doen't help things much.
Have you ridden any of giant's maestro bikes? They ride amazingly well and are very inexpensive. Honestly they are some of the bets bikes on the market.

I am sure giant has extensively tested the shock mount strength as well. You aren't gonna break it. From the pictures it looks like the shock mounts are about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch thick. That would make them very strong. It also has a guard to prevent things from smacking into the shock.

no, I haven't ridden the mistro, but I have ridden the faith, and besides being somewhat of a pig, it didn't feel very good imo.
and UUUUGGGLLY.
I own a faith. It is actually a fairly lightweight frame. The faith is a maestro suspension. All of giant's suspension is now maestro. Maestro is a type of suspension (2 links rotating in the same direction attatched to a rigid rear triangle). The faith is an awesome bike, it pedals very well, brakes awesome, and it plows. After buying my faith I have gotten exponentially faster. Everyone I know really likes the faith. It's an affordable DH bike with awesome geometry. And as far as being ugly I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

And the maestro designs are very similar to the DW link bikes. So I assume they ride similarly in terms of suspension.

wow just looked at it, hideous imo, the downtube looks fat with that stupid thing hanging off, not going to e-speculate the performance though

Last I heard, Giant only offers a 3 year warentee on their freeride/downhill bikes.
That's true. But who is really keeping their DH frames for more than 3 years? And Giant would probably be more than willing to help you out if even if the bike is outside of the warranty period.

I could care less about the looks...if it works, it works. The thing that really bothers me is the 1.5 and 1 1/8 mixed headset. On paper, the idea is structurally beneficial, but it's not very practical, and a useless idea, in my opinion.

Perhaps Giant have shares in FSA? ;)

It never happens....except in extreme rarities. If you're concerned about it, you better stop riding, you never know when you might go down sideways and scrape the top tube on a rock, or whatever other extreme rare situation you can think of...

If you case your bike as bad in the video, you should be assuming (as you are comming out of the coma) that the bike frame was a total loss.

I'm saying it happens, as in - it does occur. I didn't say it happens ALL the time.

Jm - you've never cased a 20 ft gap like that?
No, not like that. I've overshot more than I've cased. I guess one could argue that either is better/worse.

yeah....what was the point again? hell, the box frame construction might even be stronger than a std downtube in this case.

i really think people are trying hard to dislike the bike based on it's looks alone...i hear that color blue is really slow...

... ya know - I was just thinking the same thing. I just wonder how that design would behave in a "case" scenario in the area around the shock mount / BB... and what of rock/boulder clearance?

Guess we'll have to wait until someone tests it... Like I said before I want to like the Glory, but the design is going to take some understanding... and I used to think Demos looked wierd...:D
