Anyone have info on a good 3/4 high shoe for freeride? I'm new to the sport and need some advice. I'm riding 5050X flat pedals.

I have had good luck with my 661s (they aren't 3/4 height but they do make a model that is) and ankle guards (when necessary). I think mine are similar to the Launch ones.

If you can't find 3/4 shoes, check out the Dainese ankle guards. They work with about any shoe and offer lots of protection.

Try out the Five Ten Impacts... You can get them through zappos.com or go-ride.com. They grip like glue, without the bad situations that clips can put you in.

I'm the same size. I generally go with the 8 because they seem to be wide. I bought a pair of the sixsixone nuevos (size 8 or 41.5) and have worn them once riding. They are too wide for my feet...I am hoping they'll fit better for winter riding when I wear my thicker smartwool socks. They are REALLY cheap right now at Jenson, but I think they only have smaller sizes (they also tell you to buy a size larger because they run small, but I definitely didn't find this to be the case).
