I think the iPod Touch is going to bury itself along with the G4 Cube that was out a handful of years ago. Aesthetically it is beautiful, and the interface is well done; however, when it comes to the iPod, I am sure I am not alone in skipping tracks 85% of the time without looking; either while I am driving, or when it is in my pocket while biking. The success is the tactile ability a button has, that I can feel my way to skip over a song. With the touch, you are essentialy forced to look down at the thing and orient your finger.

As the iPhone, the platform is near flawless. The iPod, however, needs a little bit more raw utility to it. I'll upgrade to the 160GB classic for a cheaper price as a 16GB touch screen, thanks.

That is why they make both ;)

The touch is obviously not for you. But, I have been waiting a while for something like this. I travel a ton, and its the PERFECT airplane companion.

I agree with you that it is not the greatest solution for music, but its damn near the top of its game for a hybrid device!

I agree 100%. Bought it for trips, enough music to keep me entertained over a week or so trip, couple of movies for the plane, some TV shows, and internet while I'm waiting in the terminal, and don't want to bust out the laptop, and drain the battery.
I have a 30gb iPod video for when I need all my tunes, and a 20gb 3rd gen I keep @ work, or in the car with the charger since the battery doesn't really hold a charge...

iPod Whore!

Me Too. Between Jen and I, we have a 16GB Touch, 160GB Classic, 30GB 5.5G, 8GB Nano 3G, and 2GB Nano 2G ;)
Exactly! Plus I'm looking to get another 3rd gen for the house, as I have the Bose iPod system, and I got a smokin' deal on an Apple HiFi when Target was blowing them out ($88!), so it'd be nice to have something in one of those all the time, so I don't have to hunt around...

Say what??? You should have bought all of them and sold them on Ebay. I love my Hifi!
Yeah, saw the hint on gizmodo.com. I guess Target was ceasing to sell them in the stores, only on their website, so they were getting cleared out. Took a while for them to get down to $88 at my local one, but I got one, and my two coworkers bought the other 2, no more left. Soooo rad. I think a lot better sound than the Bose, but a lot bigger, so it's been in the garage for when I work on the bikes.
Moot point now that Apple's discontinued them, but man, I was sooo happy to score that deal.

Posting from my i760... It really is better than the iPhone/iPod touch... At least in my opinion...

They are two different products really. Now, if we were comparing the iphone with the i760 that would be one thing, but the iPod is a PMP, not a "smartphone."

And if we are giving opinions here, anything that runs windows mobile isn't worth its weight in excrement

Q: are you using a PC or Mac?

I ask because I'm torn as to with what I want to replace my worn Ipod. I would like a classic, but there are rumors of glitches when used with a PC. Anyway, if you are using a PC, have you had any problems with the itouch?
I've got an 80g ipod classic, and no problems at all between it and my pc. if there were, apple would fix it with their updates. the classic is fresh.
