I wonder if the post head to stanchion interface will handle that.

I'm thinking that too. It's definitely a risk but I bought the post at a really low price from Wiggle, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Another bike with EXO tires...

DH casing on the rear. Put an Exo on the front waiting for a new tyre, haven't been bothered to change it over yet....

The slack actual seat tube angle obviously doesn't help the cause, but given that the forward offset should help, if anything.
