I was going to but the guy who said he would pay me then decided he didn't want to before I made any changes. What is your industry? Also, didn't you recently take on a more risky job that had the potential of better pay, but more risk of less?
Now benchmark that against a non-USD asset (say gold/oil) which are bell weathers of inflation and begin swearing. My salary is a funny thing to look at over the years.
1995-2010 in annual salary:
35k, 40k, 48k, 55k, 60k, 70k, 85k, 50k, 55k, 32k, 40k, 48k, 60k, 68k, 75k, 45k.
In addition I am in the process of interviewing folks for an opening now. If they baulk at the hourly rate, I have been just passing. As I do not want someone starting day 1 already with the position that they are under paid.To parrot Rob, I have heard of more people being let loose after puling the you need me more than I need you. Every once in a while you get a DoubleLine/TCW like situation where the person is critical, and takes 40% of your staff and 50% of your business, but it's rare.
Same or less.Stosh, what has the companies revenue done over the same period? Or more importantly revenue per employee?
Thou shall obtain education and rise above thy serf's.I took a pay cut and had to take a crappy job to stay with the company but move to a different location. I keep waiting for an opening to come up in my old position (PC desktop and network support, 2nd/3rd level) at one of our hospitals close to my house but no luck in 2 years. I am now considering moving to a new company or going back to school for additional training.
The union sucks. Get a yob in the bike industry. I know it is the only way I will be happy.i havent worked 1 day since dec 15th 2008. im a union carpenter, 4th year apprentice. not even at full rate and i havent worked in over a year. but i am getting "terminated" feb 3rd. im done with their bullsh!t, im not a union carpenter at heart either. i have sent a hand full of resumes out to jobs looking to hire. hopefully get picked up by one...
sorry for the rant! had to get it out!
Different jobs. I go through 1 year cycles on average. In 2001 when I went from my high to a 33% reduction in pay to reserve capital (company wide) only to close our door at the end of that year to a job I hated in software to giving up software an driving a tow truck for 6 months.JD was that the same job or different jobs?
This is what is making my blood boil.Even companies that aren't really suffering are using the "You're lucky to have a job card." to cut salaries and benefits. Turning us into a indentured or slave labor workforce at the sametime making us do the work of 4-5 people.
It's all about the CEO bonus'.
It's all about the shareholders.
It's all going to collapse soon.
Dealin' or pimpin'?I took at 10,000 a year pay cut to work the job I am working now. It was working out ok, but TN got laid off last week. We are currently chasing the dream of alternative forms of employment. I'll let oyu know how it pans out.
