you guys are a lost cause! why are you avoiding the initial request? People want to know the HA with the PROPER 3" stroke shock.

I know that if i just bought a bike and wanted a few things different, i'd figure out a way to adjust it a bit instead of going out and buying a whole different bike. Makes sense to mess with it a bit. Hell of a lot cheaper to do it that way.oh forgot - GoRide sells Glory's. Got it! No way would they admit that the bike is too steep. instead lets give people options how to make their bike slacker and lower.

Again, in case you missed it the last 5 times...65.5 degree HA with my build. Not imaginary numbers from Giants web site, real numbers from my bike. I don't want it any lower or slacker, I like it how it is. We were doing it to see what the BB, HA would be just because we were bored, it was raining and we couldn't be riding. I personally don't have anything to gain from any bike I own. I'm not sponsored, don't want to be sponsored and just generally don't care. I buy frames (@ retail), ride them and tell it how I see it. No more, no less. If it's too steep for you, don't buy it and quit reading about it. Last time I checked, by the way, Go-Ride doesn't sell Giant online so I doubt they care either way.you guys are a lost cause! why are you avoiding the initial request? Yeah, you read it right. I enjoy building and riding bikes I guess. It's fun to try all the different stuff out. Unfortunately the only way to really do it with DH bikes is to buy them and try them. Unless your buddies all buy different stuff. I don't have a wife around to bitch at me for spending money anymore so I'm taking full advantage.am I really reading this right?
yeah I think you might need a fix, except not as used in your context.
at least you can admit to your problems...aha
and I guess it might actually work out cheaper (and better) than if you were a drug addict though...unless...you do seem to get addicted to things...

Orfen as youll see above, ekripper did answer you request on the previous page of this thread(you must have missed it).I'm gonna take the bike in there today and drop it off. They will probably get some pics up to settle this HA debate. I will say that I was there building the bike and when we finished the first thing we did was weigh and take measurements. My bike as it sits in the pics was 36 lbs and I think 5 or 6 oz. BB height was 14.25 and that I double checked when I got home, and the HA was 65.5 with the forks in the setting you see in the initial pics. All very different from my 951 and 303r but yet, still very fast and very fun. Who knows why, and who cares as long as it works.
Seems to me like that's exactly the case. All of this headangle nonsense is just retarded seems you just want someone to say its a POS an wont accept anything else.
Yes. A thousand times yes. The giant freakin rocks and at the price they are selling it at, it is even more ridiculously awesome. Giant as a company OWNS companies that sell slacker bikes. If you want a slacker bike, go buy one and guess what... Giant still gets the money, win win for them. They aren't behind the times as some have suggested, just playing the market with a bike that will be comfortable for alot of people.Seems to me like that's exactly the case.
I feel bad for ekripper though. It seems like a lot of the things he's said in this thread have just gone way over peoples' heads.
Yeah the ti spring is coming. Just wanted to get spring weight sorted first. As far as the link bothering me, the last ride I didn't notice it so much. I did have knee pads on but I just adjusted my riding position a bit and problem solved.Hey ekripper- really like the bike. I'm assuming you're going to be putting a ti spring on there at some point, getting it well below 36lbs.= rad. About the upper link hitting the inside of your knees- Still a problem? Or just not wearing knee pads? Also- could someone with a medium size measure from center of bottom bracket to center-top of head tube? Thanks!
Exactly.Maybe they should make an XC race bike with a 64 degree HA; you know, play the market a little.
Don't you think they'd rather earn (more) money from selling a bike with their name on it than getting a few dollars for manufacturing a competitor's frame?
The market is much, much bigger than the ridemonkey downhill forum. The market is also much bigger than the racing sect of downhill.Exactly.
The DH market is so big that manufacturers can put whatever geometry they want on bikes and they'll still make billions. It's exactly the same with the supercar market. Ferrari knew they could put a 1.8 diesel in the 458 Italia and still sell thousands because the market is so large and the potential customers are so ill informed....
Seems to me like that's exactly the case.

Sounds like wishfull thinking... How many Demos, Glorys, V10s, sold last year compared to Enduros, Reigns, and Nomads...The market is much, much bigger than the ridemonkey downhill forum. The market is also much bigger than the racing sect of downhill.
Your reading too much into my post. I'm not saying the market is huge, I'm saying that the ratio of elitist ridemonkey DH forum posters to everyone who rides downhill is very small. One this is for certain, this bike will continue to beat riders on 'the best bikes', because at the end of the day its only slower on the internet.Sounds like wishfull thinking... We are the black sheep of cycling. Well, us and unicylces

You've got steel 500lbs on Your bike, right? It weighs about 490g. What spring brand have You been thinking about? What weight reduction do You expect?Yeah the ti spring is coming. Actually running a 400lb spring. 500lb felt like a hard tail! Haven't thought about what brand of Ti spring. Usually just run the RCS due to the fact that I can pick them up locally. I know there not as light as Obtanium or others. Should be able to get it just a touch under 36 or right at 36lbs with the Ti spring maybe. Either way, it's light enough as is.You've got steel 500lbs on Your bike, right? It weighs about 490g. What spring brand have You been thinking about? What weight reduction do You expect?
You say You use 400lbs!? and You weigh 175lbs... hmm... I am about 155 (with gear) and I am going to have stock 450lbs spring on the frame.Actually running a 400lb spring. 500lb felt like a hard tail! Haven't thought about what brand of Ti spring. Calculator says it should be 400lbs. I hope local Fox distributor has both 400 and 350lbs springs. Here's a spring calculator Frango. http://www.mojo.co.uk/html(mojo)/springcalc.htm
It doesn't specify % of sag, my guess is around 30%. #350 might be better for you.
Cheers, any feedback ( good or bad ) is always appreciatedslowmtb, I certainly wouldn't say this new Glory is a plow bike at all really. It feels really similar to the Yeti 303r in how it handles and it's quickness. Does fine through rocks but not what I would call a point and shoot bike. It jumps extremely well and is really easy to bunny hop over stuff and pop of small rocks and bumps. Pretty sure the shorter wheel base and light weight really attribute to this. I rode the 951 today on those same trails that I've been riding the Giant and it didn't feel nearly as nimble and fast on that stuff. I don't have any experience with the previous Glorys so I can't give you a fair comparison but I would think this bike will feel quite a bit different in the jumping department due to the weight difference. The bike feels really lively and quick. Hope that helps some.
