To those bashing the Pythons, in the hands of a capable rider, they're the best tires on the market. Learn to deal with drift and you will be incredibly fast. I refuse to run anything else (Except in muddy conditions...Tioga Red Phoenix then). However,the Pythons do wear out in about 3 months...sadly...

i've found that the Maxxis Larsen TT "exception series" tire is and excellent substitute for the Hutchinson Pythons a real fast rolling tire with a good air volume to boot.

My 575 came spec'ed with the TT's. I felt they were worthless on anything but hardpack. If the trail even thought about becoming lose, they would spin out on climbs and wash out in corners. I ditched them for Panaracer Fire XCs.

Yeah. I don't know how anyone would be able to run those with climbs like we have around here...... Deer Creek? Forget it. Nothing to do with managing drift.......

The Pythons seem to lock up better in steep stuff than the TT's do, as noted by SS and Pixelninja.

However, if I were to pick an awesome all-around trail tire for conditions around here, I'd pick a FireXC.

I rode that tire in Tahoe and liked it. I hate it around here. I may get mine back from Wumpus and give them one more go. Rocks seem to have their way with them though.
