looks good, hopefully Sram will release some detailed infos soon, as far as i know there will be a freeride and an AM version........I got the new decline today, and found some more material to rave and rant and talk about. Sorry if this has already been posted!
Hi Ben,I have seen it and it looks very promising. I would love to have 2 rings, huge clearance and a chainguide up front all in a tight little package.
totally agree, sounds like a great innovationHey Markus,
It was not the one pictured and it looked beefier than that one so I imagine it was the fr version and that is the am version. They seem so close that the AM version might be the one to get due to weight reasons. I think it was attached to the iscg tabs but I am not sure.
I too want to put it on my trail bike and freeride bike. Looks like a great innovation. That and a Speedball seatpost and my FR bike just got a whole lot more versatile.
now that is a rad idea. fixie cred with the ability to go up hills (and/or down fast)I want one for my fixie.
Old Idea. Looks like a cool new application, though.

There is another thread on this crankset on here somewhere, can anyone explain what this is? thanks.
There it is! For the life of me I couldn't remember the name of that. I remeber seeing a few of those at a used bike sale still in the packaging.Old Idea. Looks like a cool new application, though.

Great! thanks for the info... very cool imo. There is another thread on this crankset on here somewhere,
It is a 2 speed planantary gearbox that should yield a 22/36 spread all in the same size as roughly a 22 T ring. This will allow lots of ground clearance, a shorter chain, NO F DER or multiple rings up front so the chain won't be jumping off all the time. Also, a chainguide is allready built in.
Mmmm 28 speeds to choose from...Hmm, I'm picturing this combined w/ a surly belt drive. And maybe a rohloff...
Well I don't care but if you are concerned about fixie cred, you might lose some - I'm guessing the hipsters will think it's lame to have a geared fixie.now that is a rad idea. fixie cred with the ability to go up hills (and/or down fast)
You're not talking about Todd, are you?why would you want fixie cred. sooo sick of those black frame glass wearing, pants rolled up, messenger bag sporting, trendy d-bags..
wait a second, that's NOT a commencal!?!??!
another piece to the puzzle...
pffft, why are you posting facts and realistic expectations as to how most bikes will ride with it on?? IT'S A GEARBOX!!!11! the future is NOW!!This is perfect for hardtails...however a lot of suspension bikes ride like ass in the granny gear. That's how your suspension will feel with only a 22T ring until brands build suspension around the use of this product. BTW, it ain't cheap or light either.

Good point. My ASX feels like total crap when I'm climbing in the granny ring and about half way down the cassette, way too much pedal feedback and I imagine it could be even worse on some bikes. This is perfect for hardtails...however a lot of suspension bikes ride like ass in the granny gear. Correct, but if you need a granny gear to begin with, then this isn't exactly a news flash. You probably know something I don't about this crank, but I thought hammerschmidt had the same gear ratios of a middle ring as well. If thats the case, then why wouldn't you want to condense that entire cluster-f*** of a front derailleur and gears into a single ring set up with a tensioner? This is perfect for hardtails...however a lot of suspension bikes ride like ass in the granny gear.
