Ha, last time I was at Snowshoe, I seperated my shoulder on my race run........are they open yet???There's another resort that's even closer than that
The western side of the mountain has some great trails. They are more suited to aggressive trail bike or the like. I rode some of them one year on the DH bike but I had my wife waiting in the car to drive me back so I didn't have to climb back up. Rode them last year on the SX 4x and had much more fun. Honestly I had more fun riding the trails on the western side than I did during the race (could be cause I am a ****ty racer).Details..?
Details?I'm flying down from Maine for this sucka. Such a great early season race - fun course, super stream-lined registration and organization, and cheap hotel rooms right on the mountain. Wouldn't miss it!!
As for other rides, I did a ride BITD that would be a perfect epic shuttle run just outside of Harrisonburg. Paved road all the way to the top then a 3 +/- mile DH on this cool trail that snakes along a ridge all the way down. Ask around in shops, and I'm sure they could point it out to you.

I'm pretty sure these trails require a pass of some type, that can be purchased from a shop in town. Here's some more info...The western side of the mountain has some great trails. Naah! It took us maybe 8 hours or so last year from Massanutten to Albany, and that was with the baby and (of course) stopping at FUNCKS Family Restaurant (and Chickin' Lickin') at Fort Indian Town Gap, PA for a rather interesting meal. So take off 1.5 hours from that and it should take you 6 or 7 hours to get to Platty!doin 120+mph
