For 2 or fewer kids a minivan is overkill.
Our family beater is a 94 mercedes e320 wagon. It's plenty huge for the four of us 90% of the time. In a pinch, and with no cargo, we can fit 7 people (2 of which must be kids or drunk) using the 3rd row.
We have a lot of family who live close so we are always pulling up the back seat of the Highlander to cram in other kids/adults. With 1 or 2 kids in car seats in car your seats get sucked up quickly.

Looks like he is giving you a kickass deal. Is the sienna a XLE or Limited?

What doea edmunds.com say your trade is worth for average condition?

4.9% is a really good rate for a used van

I'm hoping he's going to throw in a bumper to bumper warranty for 5yrs for $1 like he did last time. Oh and 2yrs worth of oil changes free.

While the Sienna is better than crawling over seats, it is hard for me to get to the backseats though I'm 6'3".

Gottcha! I've pretty much settled on the Sienna and put in my request for the owner to get me one ready for Thursday pick-up and I'm 6'3 so I should be fine.

5yrs is WAY too long for that small of a loan:

Monthly payment: $282.38

CUMULATIVE 5yr loan payment
Interest Principal
1942.9 15000.0

**I are dumb sometimes.** You are no paying interest now. Get a roof rack and a cargo box, there is all the space you need.

You will be spending nearly $29k for that car over 5yrs. It's NOT a good deal. You are no paying interest now. Get a roof rack and a cargo box, there is all the space you need.

I'm not following your math. A monthly payment of $80 for 5 years is only $4800, and how did you calculate that interest?

dUDE you are smokin crack! :bonk:

$14,000 sienna
with a trade worth $500 more than the payoff would be a wash for taxes in most states, assume the $500 in trade equity is going as money down, leave out any fees.
Your payment would be $256.16X60 @ 4.90%
financed amount $13,500, deferred cost $15,869 :bonk:

So what does all this mean?

I feel it's a good deal.

it seems like a deal, if the sienna is a XLE or Limited, is it?

$14,000 is right around wholesale for those right now. I don't know anything about your highlander but you are getting out of it with equity, and that is always a good thing. Highlander's aren't worth $hit right now either so I would so you have a real friend at your Toyota shop.

Gottcha, I don't think it's an XLE or anything. He's looking to see what model vans he can get his hands on and then were going to pick from them.
