Both float and jingle all the way down the hill-photographers loved those brakes.Hey Stik
Do both rotors float or is one fixed?
Dave
yeah, but it looks like there is no rear brake. yet there is the mysterious phantom floating brake arm.Homemade CNC madness from Sweden, built around 97.
I like the dual front disk set up. That thing is overkill....I love it!
I think that is an old Ninja front faring.I was out back east somewhere in eastern Tenn. and bumped into this little bike shop museum. Poked my head inside and it was someone's collection of old bikes including this one.
Figured it belongs in this thread as it did go DH only....albeit on asphalt.
I agree that was a pretty impressive bike. Good call.I always liked the look of the original Balfa NR. The paintjob on this one leaves something to be desired but I remember seeing the green and black one in the DH bike shootout in MBAction (circa 1998) when I was first getting into downhill and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

This was an interim design, I guess it was being tested at the same time as the DH Team models, and they decided to go with the other design. Personally, with some tweaking, I think this could have been a pretty damn sweet rig. I used it as my backup bike when I did the Big Bear 12 hour DH race with some coworkers. Think I'm going to try to get it built back up for Northstar this summer...wow a big change between the designs for that year. I used to have a 2001 dh team with that exact paint job. Then i went and saw a powdercoater.
if you need any parts let me know, mine is just sitting in my kitchen all alone. This was an interim design, I guess it was being tested at the same time as the DH Team models, and they decided to go with the other design. I kinda dig the super-ugly paint. I have a matching Fox team jersey too, with the red/yellow/purple, super fugly. I used to have Fox pants too, but they've been lost in the sands of time.
Thanks man. I had one of those too, I really liked it. Cool bikes. Finally getting back into the DH game.if you need any parts let me know, mine is just sitting in my kitchen all alone.
forget the pivot bolts.....who the flying F#$% needs TWO rotors on their front wheel?????????????????are those stainless pivot bolts on the head bike? That seems like a really bad idea to me.
I remember Dan showing me that bike back when I worked at Onza- those white Porcs lasted about one ride if you were lucky- they were sooo soft....not fs, but still a really neat vintage bike. a proto by sotello (one of the original onza guys). love the white porcs - i had a couple sets back the day.
Yeah Im with you, i think head should just stick to skis and tennis rackets.forget the pivot bolts.....who the flying F#$% needs TWO rotors on their front wheel?????????????????
