i had a chance to ride a slingshot once. a neat feeling bike - not half as jinky as it looks. had a kind of efficient feeling springiness in a sprint.

From left to right : Nolan 100% CNC thing, old karpiel, some "onion" single pivot monstrosity, Cannondale dual shock attempt, Gary fisher RS-1 rebadged (or Fisher rebadged someone elses' creation?)

(Nolan here for whoever it was that requested it, had far better pics of that thing around somewhere though)
I remember seeing that Nolan on ebay YEARS ago....so wanted to buy it! :)

That bike was so cool :clapping:

Hehehe...I used my Leatherman to cut the tire off her rim that run...

She flatted right off the start of her qualifying run. Someone had the tire cut through with a pocked knife but the wire beads were too tough. I stepped in and clipped 'em then took the pic. Someone else took the tire for a souvenir

Chain guides seem sorta...the same....?

Here is a pic of my bike which is about 12 years old, still in near perfect condition and rides really well. It is about 20lbs in weight. I have recently changed the front chainwheels and bracket for Shimano LX hollow tech 2, the pedals for spd bear traps and the seat as the lastone was tatty.

All in all a great bike but I have no idea what make it is. Its still on the Noleen NR1 rear shock and Rock Shox Judy XC that it came with but they work ok.

Could it be an early Voodoo? The interupted seat tube gives me that vibe. Whoever mentioned Titus might be on the mark too...

<--- But yea, the interrupted seat tube and the funky top tube. If its as light as claimed, then it might be titanium or something similarly exotic, which *could* also point to titus. @ chippenhamwilts: do you know what the frame material is?

oh, also; is there any serial number on the bb shell? sometimes that can give an indication.

To me that top tube screams KHS, but based on the pivot / travel it also resembles a random department store bike with upgraded components.

Could this be some brand specific to the UK? That design is really not bringing back any memories.

Its not bringing back any memories anywhere, thats the whole point. I just wish it had some kind of label. When it was new, the Noleen shock wasn't bad, neither was the IBC hydralic brake and the XT hubs, mavic rims, xt front mech, xt chainset (now lx hollowtech 2) , stx rc rear mech, dia compe front brakes, etc etc were all near top if not top of the range gear. Also if you have a real good look at the rear swing arm and some of the frame structure, there's an awful lot of work gone into it and it's a really stiff frame. My mate bought it second hand from a car dealer who had taken it in as part ex. He paid over £1000 pounds for it about 8 years ago and never rode it at all.

like most things its all down to individual taste but it suits me perfectly. Just wish I knew what it was.

That bike looks like an Extralite from Italy. Nick Craig rode for them in 1997 I do believe.
I thought that they have always used the Horst link, but I could be wrong.
I'd be hard-pressed to see that train-wreck of a TT/pivot area with an Extralite decal on it...

Anyone remember this? I think it's an italian frame that Giovanna Bonazzi was riding at some point... not with that fork though.

Were Noleen shocks used on anything but K2 bikes? Not to say that one couldn't have been purchased as an aftermarket replacement but as far as I know K2 was the only manufacturer to spec Noleen as the OEM shock.
