Oh for those who dont know, its quebec style french fries witha thick brown gravy and melted curd cheese. MM MM good but about 1 zillion calories for a typical huge-ass serving.

it should be noted for a first-class poutine that the fries must be made from fresh potatoes with a sqare centimeter cross-section cut and they must be fried in oil from beef lard at least 1 week old (you can tell because the fries are dark brown...no pansy-ass McDork fries). The gravy must be from a secret receipe that the maker will never divulge (aka the best are always from original receipes, no generic store-bought crap). The curd cheese is, well, curded, sometimes gouda nuggets; and the proper melting vs. solid cohesion factor must be maintained.

Said poutine will also prevent hangovers if consumed before sleep. Also you should refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery a half-hour after consumption. Naps post-meal are strongly encouraged...

Think it'll keep in a FedEx container...:)

So, thats poutine, eh?

Is the gravy like american gravy? or is gravy just a generic term for sauce?

Looks like an excellent drunken 2am snack.

I think I ordered poutine from a McDonalds in Quebec once...IT had cheese curds and beef gravy. It wasn't bad.

I also had it at that little eatery off the mountain at Bromont and it was marginally better.

I need to find some gormet poutine:D

You need to try some Ashton or Stratos poutine my friend!:thumb:
Oh man! Even though it only 9'oclock in the morning, I would love a poutine from Ashton. There's one right down the street from my inlaws' house and my wife and I always make it a point to go at least once when we're up in Quebec visiting her friends and family.

I can't wait to tell her that there was a poutine thread on RM. She'll laugh her azz off!

If you ever go to Ashton'S in Quebec city region, you have to try the "Dulton" wich is a poutiune with some meat on top of it...if you want even better you ask for a "dulton spécial" wich is the dulton with some hot dog wienners ontop of it!

Every time i go to quebec city i must go to ashton's...
by the way, everything else is good on the menu:D

Starto's is excellent too!

Had too much half drunk poutines in my younger days... has been at least 10 years since I had a complete poutine... but I do once in a while steal a bite here and there...

A small poutine really is the best hangover prevention there is. I'm a complete lightweight when it comes to drinking, and Quebec has a way of always kicking my azz in that department. I can't remember ever waking up with a hangover there though because we always stagger over to the closest Ashton, stuff our faces, and THEN go to bed.

Its funny, when I Googled poutine in the image search, Russia's president Vladimir Poutine came at position 14, right after 13 beautiful pictures of Quebec's own Poutines!!! :D

So who likes Italian poutine, replace brown gravy with spagetthi sauce... mmmmm tasty...
