Considering where the content quality of Jalopnik is these days, I am just happy he tried.
That car looks like is designed with as many propietary spares (windshield?) as possible to remain a profitable cashcow for years to come.
There are going to be a few billion of those driving around soon, I would not be worried about proprietary anything.
Have you seen the late model BMW windshields?... heck, even batteries.
Cant use non-genuine BMW windshields... and the batteries are such a pain in the ass to match (with the tool), people just buy the bmw-branded ones.
In some brands, you cant unplug the headlights, without throwing a CEL and need a factory tool to replace (and the dealer wont use anything but original branded parts)
