Dammit... you could have skimped some... I need all the help I can get to beat him...Nathan should have his bike already. A right nice build at that.
!!!!If you can't beat Nathan on the bikes you own, I get them back!!!!
Why is that?Something tells me that the 29er marketers are not going after my age group.
I think he means that the Dorothy logo isn't Xtreme enough to keep his ADD from kicking in after 3 seconds...Why is that?
Actually there are several 29ers out or coming out that will fit the budget of a younger rider ($500.00 Monocog, $750 Raleigh XXiX, and you could probably build up a Zion 29er from jenson on the cheap too).
Might I ask why? Is it the image that you do not agree with? May I ask your age? You can respond with an email if you'd like, but I am very interested in why you feel this way. A response would be greatly appreciated.Something tells me that the 29er marketers are not going after my age group.
i heard drinking badger milk will make you stronger.it's a badger, not a pig.
I think that it's a matter of preferance. The image was primarily designed to be a throwback to the hot rod girls of the 50's and 60's. It ties in with the fact that the builder is from Kansas, and is different from a lot of "corporate" logos. Nathan has a good point, it's not suppose to be super racy or pornographic, I guess it's not suppose to turn you on. It's just suppose to be a cool image that differenciates the bike from other 29ers.I am a 20 year old white dude. Maybe it is my age, where I live, or my personality, but I do not find Dorothy's chosen style of dress (especially the ribbons) attractive.
Well, as a longtime female form enthusiast, I'll add my thoughts:I think that it's a matter of preferance. You should know that I am far closer to your age then I am to most of the people that this is marketed towards. That doesn't really change the fact that the bike needs to be marketed towards the projected customer. It's a rare person of our age that is willing to invest in a XC frame that costs this much. That is not to say that they are not out there, only to say that there are fewer potential buyers than say of 35 to 50 year old males. I think that the logo does speak to people of our age though. The artist is only 26, and when featured at a recent exhibition of his works, this was by far one of the most popular. I think it's cool. I think that other people think it's cool. So we'll see how it's recieved when it's finally released as a completed project.
I would finish by saying that while this bike may not be directly marketed towards you, or the type of riding you do, (I looked,) there may be other projects coming in the future. Hopefully something like that might catch your eye. Cheers,
Ben
That's exactly how it was intended. It reminds me of the 'nose art' and the B-52 bombers I see here every day... I'd say it's tastfully suggestive in a retro classic sorta way... not as sensual as a Vargas though.
I would hope that the shop behind the bike might be a selling point as wellit is the builder behind these bikes that will make em sell

That's the plan. There will be a preoder deal offered at first, but after that it'll be in stock as much as possible. The goal is instant gratifacation for all orders, or as son as humanly possible. So, my question is this... will a person wanting a Badger, in a standard size, be able to get one without the looooooooong-loooooooooooooooooong wait often associated with getting a custom frame built?
Well that would be very nifty! The ability to get a uber cool custom bike instantly could help justify the little extra cost if the frames to those who say the $1200 cost is a little on the spendy side..That's the plan. Yeah yeah... some people will use any excuse...!!!no delivery yet...
So is there a super ultra spy photo of such frame..???Frames will be one color for the time being. That may change if numbers make it a possibility. The color will make up for that, trust me!
As to Nathan's bike, it'll be there. I called UPS today just to confirm.
waiting is teh suck...Early next week. I can't wait much longer either Prototype's at paint, should be done on Friday.
I do not think I said quite what I wanted to earlier . . . I think Dorothy is not "cool, hip, sexy, etc" although she is unique and oozing with soul. She seems like a relaxed throwback to 'the old days'.Bjanga, I don't think we're meant to be sexually attracted to a cartoon drawing of a girl that is used as a graphic on a bicycle. There's a difference between something being "cool, hip, sexy, etc" and something being sexual that you would be "attracted to"...I think you may be approaching it wrong.
Why pick something 'retro', then? Seems to me like a lot of 29" marketing runs in that vein. Grizzled old trailriders and all that. It's just suppose to be a cool image that differenciates the bike from other 29ers.
N8 says it best, and I have trouble relating something like that to my bike or mindset. It reminds me of the 'nose art' on the B-52 bombers I see here every day... I'd say it's tastfully suggestive in a retro classic sorta way...
I agree . . . all this BS about art is just hot air in the endHell it is the builder behind these bikes that will make em sell, not the graphic that will be associated with them anyway.
yessirWOW, did you spend 10 minutes getting al those quotes in order?
AgreedTo expect that any sort of art is going to appeal to everyone across all age brackets is, well.......asking for a miracle. I'm quite sure that whatever art is on your bike, it's more about the rider and how the bike was designed to be ridden than it is the art on the bike.
Dorothy is just icing on that cake, if you know what I mean.
Have you ever milked a badger?i heard drinking badger milk will make you stronger.
