my girlfriend got me a straight razor for christmas. im so stoked on it! ive been wanting one for a few years now. i read the instructions and watched a youtube video. hopefully i dont chop my face off
yes it is a badger brush. ive already been looking at websites and doing research on the stuff i can get for it. damn my girlfriend giving me another thing i can turn into a hobby! she should know better than thisI use a DE. I've thought about a straight because the best shaves I've had have been from them. But I only shave about once a month which would make it difficult to practice enough with the straight to become proficient.
Is that a badger brush? If not, you'll probably want to upgrade to one.
This a new hipster craze?
Adam Sandler quote - "When shaving remember up & down works better than side to side."
If we stop hearing from you ...we'll know what happened.
Let us know how it works out.
I'm curious. since I can't get disposable to last more than a week. Maybe they're not suppose to, but they are getting pricey. Do you need to sharpen a straight? Doesn't stay sharp forever right?
Those are expensive and they still suck.Stop buying cheap disposables - those things suck. Drop a few more dollars and get some Sensor's or Mach 3's.
OK ..so you don't sharpen them ..you hone them. And when half-honed you bleed. Also, you need to get that honed. You don't want to start with a half-honed razor, trust me on that one.
Much as I hate to admit it, I'm with CJSP on this. Straight razor is squarely in the foppish hipster bucket, with apologies to your hug, LB.Anyone that considers shaving an "art" needs to curl up in a ball and die.
Reading that was bittersweet to my fragile little heart.Much as I hate to admit it, I'm with CJSP on this.
Does it give you the strength to carry on another day?Reading that was bittersweet to my fragile little heart.
I don't know, but hotdogs give me the energy to fight off my dad.Does it give you the strength to carry on another day?
I hope you shave better than you tattoo.I wouldn't really advise it to most people. It's difficult and straights are deceptively sharp. I developed some good dexterity back in my tattoo artist days, so I was able to pick it up pretty fast. My experience is not typical. The shave is second-to-none, though.
She has bound feet, dude. It's supposed to look like that.I hope you shave better than you tattoo.
Nothing can buy YOU thatmight buy me a little more time of not looking like a Dbag.
Yup. You can actually maintain a razor indefinitely with some chrome oxide pigment (fine abrasive) smeared on a balsa board and a strop. It's not too hard to find a sweet vintage razor for $20-25, get it honed for $25 and you are up and running.Straight razors have one up front price and then you maintain them until you die, with maybe a yearly hone.
Fvcking telemarkers.Mach 3 FTW.
why would you purposely make something more difficult than it needs to be?
it's like telemark skiing...
Oh right...hipster...
Fixed for me.Courtesy of chronic laziness, I only need to shave about twice a month.
