Because of the beach trip, this was my 1st "dirt" (mostly a dusty powder on thin sheen of ice) ride in 7 weeks not counting 2 lazy river car/bike shuttles.

All bike rides are good(er) and while I'm plotting a Vernal / Curt Gowdy? trip in early December to rekindle my love affair with the new GG Shred Dogg, I do LOVE ME some ATV-ability of the fat.

Totally choose your own adventure as Charcoal and I did some grassy swamp exploring since the (summer) riverside trail peters out well before the powerline we comfortably ski to in the winter...

We played leepfrog with this cow/calf swamp donkey pair -- first I've seen since I've been back, must be hunting season...

Not going to lie, studded snows would have been nice riding the last uphill block to the shitbox (should've gone cross country through the woods) but 95% of the time icy roads / lack of fresh powder is not an issue in these parts...

Seems like just yesterday (late May?) that I was riding to the top of Sawtell Peak:

Rode the "home" trails today. Frig, someone must have blown the leafs again right before it snowed. Greasy turns wherever the bare ground was showing, in contract to perfect conditions on the (few) leaf covered trails.

Leaf blown:

No mud or grease in sight on this one :)

This steep chute is so good. It's quite steep so it's entertaining watching people tip toe into it and kind of cascade down the roots. The better way is to blast through and cut to the less used riders left of the stump at the top.

Normally don't get a chance to look back at this, but I encountered some of that grease :rofl:

33 freedumbs, but sun was out, and dirt was 90% snow/ice free = winning.

I did the short ride today, as I wasn't sure, but this bodes well for a proper ride tomorrow @ Harriman, where the lower trails are mostly in the sun / sagebrush...

Global warming => fucked up weather
Lemons => lemonade

Our rentals for the week. And the kid can climb! Barcelona knows how to do bike lanes. Canada has a lot to learn. Has been a good trip.

where's the moose?
Different day, different moose. This time it was munching on the side of the city greenway bike path. Since it was pointed away from the trail, I thought I could ride past and it would move down and the rest of our group could do the same, but instead it started chasing me down the bike path and everyone else laughed. Not worrisome though, they are only fast in shit terrain.
