****ts and giggles galore. Still, by far and away, the absolute best DH race I ever attend, year in and year out.

Missed it 2 out of the last 3 years due to kids about to be born or being born. I'm so there. To anyone within a 5-6 hour drive of Western NC, this is a MUST attend event.

3-6 riders per cabin, all right at the course. Free keg at nights end. Usually 1 lap of the XC race to caus chaos for the spandexicans.

Entry fee -dirt cheap!!!

ROCK!!!!

Found this:
Big Bike Class 1 lap ( Big Bikes must be 35lbs or greater, flat pedals, 10 inches of total travel)
Oh..you're reading about the XC race. Yeah...nobody takes it too seriously. All the DH guys try to pin it from the start to the singletrack to get ahead of the XC guys. It's all over right about then...the glory of going into the woods first is about all. We just do it to get up to the top of the XC...where the most fun DH in the whole thing is...

best race EVER!!!

i'm down for sure. the dorking around in the parking lot and surrounding area is some of the most fun to be had. is like one big group ride with beer at the end (not that i like beer, but i tried some last year and passed out on the way home :D )

I'm so in. last year was awesome with all the snow and mud.

I still really like the picture of our bikes frozen together on the railing that frznnomad posted. We were all wayyyy too cold after the race to even think about washing off the mud. And that first picture shows the good times... although that's completely normal behavior for 1337 racers.

It's racing related text..
I understand that. I was there for that race. There were bears and road gaps and good weather and all sorts of misc funness having to do w/ bicycles. I'm just confused on its relevance regarding the race at fontana.

Since we're bastardizing the thread, long live the powdered donuts!!!!

That #3 race was the best race course and event I have ever attended. I still dream of that road gap.
Personally, race three was the best 12.44 minutes I have ever experienced. I got to hang out with all my friends, great conditions, and I had a chance to rise up and overcome my beat down. Its quite a feeling to commit to what scares you and succeeding even if I flatted moments later. :disgust1:

The pic is right before I blew up....as you can tell by my sweet stylo and low trajectory.

my favorite thing about the icycle is on your race run, coming down Turkey Chute through all the right and left hand high speed sweepers and timing them all. Not to mention the serious high speed drifts you can get on them.

Sliding into that one right hand berm near the top of the course...knowing it will catch you...almost highsiding it, then dropping down it to the left into the dip, popping that root and transfering it down to the next right hander.....!!!! Yeeeeeaaaahhhhh!
