Bad products that get great reviews is definitely what's wrong.

I'm just picking a random item here- the Reverb for instance. How many reviews got published by PB, GMBN, Bike, MTBR, etc. that loved products like the Reverb when it came out? After these predictable reviews of products that were tested for "6 months" and "Put thru everything"
5 Stars!
Best Innovation of The Year!
Game Changer!

The following year there's an updated 2.0 version that gets tested and that's when the truth comes out about the first one being a piece of shit, but THIS ONE is now the awesomest evar!
-The new one doesn't have to be bled after every ride like the previous version did.
-Much more reliable than the older version.
-Less finicky than the previous model.

Until the new 3.0 comes out.
-When you lift your bike up by the saddle, it doesn't need a bleed anymore like the last 2 models did.
-50 grams lighter and faster than the 2.0 version!
-Worth its weight in gold!

Yet other seatpost never had half the issues that the Reverb did. I know that the best reviews are given to the biggest advertisers, but there's no reliable reviews anymore.
