for the right people, collonade is a really cool place. I can't really comment on it because I haven't ridden it yet, but I know that people have put a lot of time into building it

I agree with greenhood. I am not a super hucker like some of the people on here, seeing posts making fun of the level of riding makes me apprehensive about hitting things like the port angeles shuttle day. I LOVE to ride, and just remember that when I see posts like the ones above, once apon a time they rode like me!! HOWEVER, there aint nothing wrong with seeing a superhucker hit a huge double that I would not even dream of attempting with style and grace! Just remember folks, we are all on this list cause we just wanna ride our bikes!

The point of doing stuff like Colonnade is to get a Hood near Seattle.

There are plans on putting in SST lines with huge gap jumps, if you checked out what was down there you'd know there are 3 piles of clay waiting to be molded.

The exits are toast, South Seatac is going to be a golf course. You can either help out and support the movement, or just spend more gas money to get to Oregon, PA, or Canada.

There are many many reasons for Colonnade. One of the big reason people here should pay attention to is it's the only real window for legitimate Freeride to exist in Seattle period. i believe there should be a real freeride park somewhere along the area, and Colonnade will soon be that.

There is a history of Mt. Biking being demonized around the Seattle area. It's taken years to get our own park. Nobody here likes how difficult the politics are around here, this isn't Vancouver, Hood River, Port Angeles, or Bellingham where the powers that be are willing to work. This is big city b.s. where the reality is it's always an uphill battle in sand.

All mt. bikers whether you agree or disagree with Colonnade had best realize how important it is and give whatever support they can. BBTC has spent all of it's money for the park, and now they are seeking money for a grant in order to continue to the advanced section (remember i was talking about the big doubles....)

    Like this ....../]___[\..... haha.

In the meantime i'm glad to see a crew enjoying what's there now.

Just like 300 there are only a few real warriors on the battlefield. Moving rock and stone, negotiating for money and opportunity, while others complain there's nowhere local to ride.

if by molded you mean mixed with sand to create workable dirt then ok. Just because i induldge myself in a little e-humor doesn't mean i havn't put in hours down there. it would be sic to get some nice flowy lines in there (like an open air ray's). just let us (becasue im sure there are others who feel similarly) know when they're going in and we'll be there.

i agree with your point, but i dont think the exits are going to be demolished anytime soon. They've been out there for a long time and they'll be out there for quite a bit more.

What do you want me to frikkin tune up your bike too? i'm not your daddy...;)

If you wanna know you'll find out.

Hey man, yah it would be great to have help when the time comes, there is a basic plan for a few lines to be put in. Right now the whole park is being put on hold until the novice section is completed. At that time we are going back to get a grant, if we don't get it, the whole project is in trouble. If we do, we need people who have real experience assisting, because the dirt and limited resources is a tough go. People who have practical experience and maybe some that think outside the box to bring this project to a reality that can make all of mountain bikers proud, whatever style your into.

So with that all that the club can use help now. The novice area is almost done. Mike Westra is holding work parties you can look em up on the BBTC board.

And to the internet all-stars, if you didn't know the best riders rail in relative anyonymity, and most all are cool people, not assholes... it's a fact.

Ok when the time comes let me know, I got lots of experance.

I have never really spent much money to make a trail. I think we could get wood from freecycle or get it dontanted + there is a bunch sitting there already. The guys at Post Canyon in hood river got a ton of wood for free, on some of there kickers there is a sign with the company that gave it to them. I guess they have to build wood kickers so the moto guys to wreck them....

    anyway

How is it working with that clay? Some of the pump track seams pretty sold. I have also seen dirt on freecycle, and I am sure someone knows were to get dirt that would work.

What is left to be built on the novice area?

With the grant money the club will decide where it's spent.

The club wants the advanced section to go quicker than the novice area. By basically making 2 lines but leaving them open ended for more trails to be put in as time goes on. The club will have access and pay for all the rock, stone, gravel, pavers, clay, wood etc, but they accept donations too.

The novice area is really really close to being done. In fact it's getting done half-assed right now to get the grant going. So right now the trail will be finished, but the extra stuff like more log bridges, teeter totters, etc will go in after the grant kicks in.

So after the grant (if we get it) work will kick in on the advanced, and taper off of the novice area as it get's 95% done to 100% done.

As far as the clay, i haven't worked with it yet. But it comes from when they dredge out foundations from the big building downtown. Jon would be a good guy to talk to about clay.

That's pretty much the extent of what i know...

4 of us showed up today, Walt built more wall, Igor and Mike built and tested anothe log
ride and I watered ferns and other new plants. The more I see the art insalation the more
convinced I am it's a total waste. The city should've given us the money instead.

Hmm reading this again i was thinking this seems so long ago, but then i look at the date and it wasn't that long ago....

The park project is on that downhill slope in more ways than one. Seems like at first, things were slow go, but now more and more people jumping on the bandwagon, so many projects moving at one time, it's really moving fast.

Colonnade is going to be a fun place to ride after all. Step up to step down after the holy shoot will be sick, it is hard to believe having that much fun will be legal.

If you build it, they will come.
