Order is in, waiting to get a confirmation when it will ship.

I got a mix of stuff to make a few different configurations.

18x24 kick
16x20 kick
11x14 rack
14x16 floor
16x18 floor

Plus a DW 600 series hardware pack (the "retro" stuff)

sweet! I dig that hardware cause it is fuggin light! I have killed myself for far too long hauling this heavy @ss double braced chit! The local drum shop is having a huge sale this weekend... I was going to look at some single braced stuff, I think the 6000 series may still be more than I wanna spend right now!

Kit showed up today. Looks kinda like this:

Final spec:

18x24 kick
16x20 kick
11x14 rack
14x16 floor
16x18 floor

2 x 5710 straight stands

1 x 5500D Delta hi hat stand

1 x 5300 snare stand

1 x 9120M tractor seat throne (jesus this thing is HUGE....is my ass that fat?)

1 x DWSM770 bass drum mounted cymbal stand (retro yo!)

1 x DWSM771 consolette tom mount (retro yo!)

It's fugging July Christmas in my living room.

Now I have nice shipping boxes to pack up the drums I have in storage too!

You'd think it would work, but on drums the distance between pedals is much greater than on a bike. Wider seat = more stability.

A Flight saddle would mean instant, intense taint pain.

I think I see a stuffed baboon toy in that last pic. Nice to see I have some fans out there.
Nope.

My wife was Frida Kahlo for Halloween some years back. The stuffed monkey was part of the costume. It's usually hanging from the house plants.

NORCAL is the hizzle
Snare is gorgeous, and I love the close up of the bass drum.

It's been a long while since I've been into kit set ups - is it common to have two different kick sizes? Or is this so you can have a couple different single bass set-ups?

No and yes and both.

It's spec'd for flexibility for studio and side projects. I can have 1-3 toms and 1-2 kicks, as required.

It's black nickel over brass. It sounds really good, much more depth and "balls" than I though a metal snare would have.

They just threw it in there too, I didn't order it.

it's been a while (25 years) since I messed around with drum kits but how are those stands 'retro'?

I did get another "retro" style bass drum cymbal arm though. Best thing ever, I hate boom stands.

DW makes an updated version, way more beefy than the old school ones.

I have one installed on my custom kit. Perfect cymbal placement every time.

Yes, the new kit will allow me different versions of this setup. (small, smaller, very small, etc)

I can't believe you didn't paint it with the blood of your enemies... :disgust1:
That's not a factory option, I have to do that after it's shipped.

I played with my son yesterday instead of slaughtering enemies, so my paint bucket is dry.

Got a clip of you playing them? I love the drums, too bad I can't play them worth a damn.
