it's funny to see some real early timers who posted once or twice and that was it.

conclusion drawn - the early ancestors of RM either died off, were quitters, or habitual lurkers.

Sorry, does that mean you were interested until you found out he didn't mean "leg hump"?

Perv.
I didn't read back to who I said that to, but I am usually up for a good leg humping.

I remember when most of us bailed from MTBR it was around Septemberish. I believe the whole bailing started because MTBR started charging for their classified adds.

I like to think of the POS bike I was riding back when I joined ... a full-sus Univega that weighed as much as a DH, cost me $800 (a lot for a high school kid) and rode like a saddled pig on angel dust. That was the reason I initially quit riding and therefore quit posting here. God I hated that bike.

This place hasn't been the same since HELLTACO left...
Some of the less-visited forums like the Tech forum haven't had the posts circa 2001 pruned from the database yet - there are a bunch of HELLTACO posts in there if anyone is looking for entertaining reading :D

I first joined my freshman year of college and that was 2001-2002 but that was under a different name "blwnmkudef", i can still remember sitting around in my freshman dorm room, posting about how i was going to be one of the first guys to have the new bullit with the 5th element...

That while we got ready to head to some frat house to get drunk...

Those were the days.

I remember lurking for a couple of months before I finally joined.
Join date 9/11/01. I guess this was one of the few sites that was working that day.
#472, damn, I shoulda signed up earlier, so I could lord my low number over all these n00bs.
Of course, I don't post that much anymore, but I'm here every day...
Here's to another 5 years of the monkey!

"When was Ridemonkey actually first created?"

Well MMikey,

You see, when a Papa Monkey and a Moma Monkey love each other.....

I vaguely remember '00-'01 I raced DH in the WIM series for the first time in the spring of '01 and Freak had invited me over to this "ridemokey" place and there was like 4 people in the NW forum. :) '00-01 I was still fiddle farting around on MTBR and RM...then I switched to RM almost solely.

 For some reason I think I came over to RM in the Fall....

Hmmm edit: #246
