Why do you wish you got the small over the medium? How tall are you?

im about 510 511 ish and i have always raced dh and havnt been on an xc bike for like 5 years. all my yetis are small and switching between my dj and my mtnx project to the 575 feels like my dh bike. it could be due to the 110 mm stem, that im gonna swap out for a 90 or 70.
its all personal opinion but the bike is amazing anyways

To me this has been the best full-suspension bike I've ridden yet. 2004 Specialized Epic S-Works w/full XTR, CrossMax tubeless wheels and FOX fork. Any questions?

Does the Brain shock have that delay thing working still or does it react on time to small bumps and stuff?

When I test rode one the delay was noticable. It was fairly harsh on until it "opened" then it was pretty decent. The thing I really didn't like about the Epic was the low BB. I was whacking things left and right on the ride.

This bike is what I built up with spare parts from my old Trek Y-Frames. I bought the 2003 Sugar 4+ frame off eBay for $225.00 and was able to transfer everything over except for the front derailleur and bottom bracket. My old RaceFace (circa 1997) Turbine LP square taper cranks had seen better days so I retired them and went with LX. All told the bike weighs 29 LBS with the Kendas, my winter tires are Continental Vertical Pros and they will push the bike over 30 LBS.

2003 Sugar frame and OEM Fox Float
2002 SID SL 100mm fork
XT shifters & rear derailleur
Deore front derailleur
King headset
Avid mech disks & SD5 levers
Kenda Karma tires
Mavic X3.1 USTs & XT disk hubs

Also: DWP are the initials of the previous owner... I probably just leave them there because I'm lazy.

Yes - do you ride trails too, or just slide around in fields?? ;)

This is a poor picture of my burner. It's a mix of different parts that I've accumulated over the past couple years with a 5" vanilla rlc up front. It's a MUCH better ride than the AC I had these parts on before. Hopefully the pic comes out okay enough.

Btw, if anyone's interested in trading their fs xc or trail bike frame for a large high-end steel hardtail plus some cash, please let me know.

My Sugar 2 weighs in at 19lbs. I had it lower but I had to reinstall the stem when the fork kept falling off. Now that I think of it, I don't really need the fork either though. ;)

which model Nicolai is that and is that a horst link I see? How does that RS shock perform? seems out of place on a Nicolai but hey if it works it's all good.
Yup Helius CC with Horst link. The Rock Shox shock has been pretty good. Surprisingly durable and an adequate performer. I like the Mav tuned Psylo - no problems there either.

Nice ride Ridemonkey!! Hey when were those Maverick Tuned Psylos produced? Were they made for their ML7s to serve as complete bikes before they had their Maverick DC forks ready for production ??

Yeah they made them in 2002 I think. They had some extras that ended up in a shop in Boulder.

Have you decided if you want to go HT or FS for your next bike?
Let's just say a certain steel frame from a company that starts with a K is tempting me big time now that I've found out the price on it.

Kish ?

if so the bike shop thats down the street from me has sold quite a few steel and Ti road and mtb Kish frames and they have gotten great reviews.

Steel and Ti aint my bag but the quality of workmanship is excellent on these bikes

That's cool. What kind of price did you get on it? $450 seems to be the MSRP - are there better deals to be had though? I really like the step up from that frame... it's an aluminum race frame, but the MSRP is $600. Probably going to be a while before I can afford that.

Thanks. I love the way it rides. Only complaint that I have is that on really steep climbs, I have to pay extra attention to keep the front end down. Thinking maybe I should've gone with a fork w/ travel adjust or some sort of lock down. Oh well.

Great price but after getting on a couple of FS bikes and a couple of hardtails last night I'm back on the FS kick!

good thing! I trully beleive taht you will be happier with a FS.

a ht is fun but hard on the body on long runs...I also think that after a while you are gonna find that your cheetah is way to heavy and slow for xc/trail even with light parts!

the best thing is to have both...a HT and a FS...

personnaly, i can't seem to be able to have lesss than 3 bikes at the time! one freeride/dh fs, one xc/trail FS, and a HT!

If I were in the market:

* Hollowpoint MkIII - DW link is so darn good, value is outstanding

* 05 Motolite - horst frame with the right specs from a manufacturer with a great rep at a not unreasonable price

* 5 Spot/X5 - well known and regarded, though not the best value for money
