Its all about getting first aid in ad injured riders out, as I'm told. Almost impossible on the old Nationals course, thus why they aren't using it.

...and part of the problem is that whoever made or designed the trail actually likes it and doesn't want to see it go to waste, I'm assuming.

is it cut wide enought for some lines to form or is it tapped so narrow it going to become one big rut?

too narrow makes it more of a bobsled run, not DH IMO.

Well if that's the case, cut yourself some access points.

If I'm reading the rules correctly, I need a UCI license to compete at this event. Anybody know if the UCI license can be purchased onsite? If not onsite, where?

If you are from the US and a norba member: USA Cycling site, go to your page, then buy an international license. You have to fax some forms to them etc. It takes a couple of weeks to get. You can pay even more to have it expedited, but doubt you'll have it by registration close at noon on Thursday.

Get on the usacycling.org website tonight and upgrade your license to the international ($150). Scan your birth certificate and email it to the contact person for international licenses. Call mondu vela and register over the phone tommorow.

Don't even attempt to show up without that license. The UCI nazi will not let you race. She even tries to keep people with licenses from racing. No joke.

Michelle Dumaresq wins womens 30-34 (or at least I think it is that age category) with Petra Wiltshire in 2nd. I find Michelles entry into the Masters Worlds slightly dubious when she is the Canadian Elite champion, yet is at Sun Peaks but not in Rotorua. I know technically she qualifies by age but then so does Steve Peat.....

Not heard great things elsewhere about the course.

Michelle was in 35-39, and you can enter as long as you have not raced any World Cups (I think). Loraine Buchard (sp?) came out of a long retirement (4+years) to take the women's 30-34.

My friend, Bryon Enns came in 1st in the old man 40-44 age group. That bastard is getting faster with age! Maybe there's hope for me.

Still stinks a little that someone can win their national championships at Elite level (against 3 riders who all placed top 20 at the elite Worlds) then presumably refuse a place on the Worlds squad for Rotorua yet because they did not attend any World Cups (out of choice??) can turn up at an event and prove they clearly are in a different class by winning it by 20 odd seconds.

Perhaps I am just bitter because I would have liked to see Petra Wiltshire, Trek and Team GB take home a gold medal, it doesn't seem fair to me.

She told everyone she had a broken wrist as far as I know and that's why Danika went after a protest. I have a feeling there was more to the story than that.

As for not being fair...now you know how all of the elite Canadian women feel.

You want to give her the $4k to get to New Zealand and race?

I heard she couldn't afford to get there. why wouldn'y you enter the masters then?

Also Steve Peat doesn't qualify as he has raced a World Cup event this year.

4k? The canadian national team charged all DH team members $1500, and that was absurdly high. My plane tickets were $1490cnd, and hotel was about $165cnd per person for the entire 10 days (hotel split 3 ways). Plane tickets were not included in their pricing - but many iders did their own thing without the CCA.

I don't think she eats $2000 or so in food (not in NZ anyways).

I know where you are coming from, but the trip itself didn't cost that much. Couple that with the fact that we all heard she broke her wrist leads me to believe there is a much better story here.

The rest of the Canadian team managed to pull enough together.....
To me if you are racing at Elite level during the season it does not seem fair that you suddenly choose to race by age category when the chance for some silverware comes up, not necessarily expecting everyone to agree, it just seemed a little like sandbagging to me!

The competition was way smaller last year. I was 6th in 30-34 last year and by the looks of it I would of placed in the 20's this year.

I am with you on that point (well sort of). She shouldn't be allowed to race elite anymore after going age grouping. You should be allowed to race your age group, even if you have been racing elite.. but you also shouldn't be allowed to chop and change, once you've changed, thats where you should stay. Unless you get even older and need to go into any even older class, but what are the chances of someone actually aging

Kiwi riders were charged at least $600+ for uniforms, and the frigging event was even in the home country. I'm not sure if they also got charged for the hotel, but knowing bikeNZ, it sure as heck wouldn't surprise me

I think our DH riders actually got free jerseys this year. XC jerseys that were so small they could not fit on over body armour. The suggested solution: don't wear body armour.

:bonk:

XC riders got jerseys, vests, shorts etc etc

I was surprised at how many riders eren't wearing any armour at all. Tho we got a bit of a giggle out of the girl who had her pink calvin Klien undies showing during her race run.
Just be thankful you didn't get the worlds flu. a seriously large chunk of people I know get hella sick. I've been houseridden for the last 3 days after I succumbed after holding it at bay for 4 days

 just got in.

Yeah, there were a lot of freshmen and more GB riders.

Nigal Page for craps sake! lol

i crashed my seeding i was a bit sketched out.

i blew over a berm my race run and lost 5 secs getting back over it.

over all i was too tenative not wanting to flat or crash again. i flatted

my last practice, but my 2.1's @ 50 psi held fine my race run.

The 29's were great save no big knobs, really didn't need them

though. there was only 1 no bermed corner,

the last one!

i have about 1hr of vid clips to edit to show you guys how retarded

 the track's 1500yard straight down black runs
was. wee lest go  straight!

5 secs would have gained me 9 places!

I saw her, have a pic. too funny.

I actually AM sick. I have had a runny nose, stuffed up head and general ****ty feeling since I got home. I just figured I caught something on the plane.
