If you have funds in a Traditional IRA and try that, your contribution amounts go pro-rata. ie. you have $50000 existing in Trad (before tax) contributions, then contribute $5000 after tax to back door, only 10% actually goes over as after tax. 91% will be taxed the year of your conversion because pro-rata.
[TN] "Avoid the back door unless you can empty it out first" [/TN]

Wait, that didn't come out right, did it?

:D

Much more is out there in terms of examples: https://www.google.com/search?q=backdoor+roth+pro+rata+rule&oq=backdoor+roth+pro+rata+rule&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.3575j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Yeah - but then you'll have to ski with a kid.

NTTAWWT.

:D
I will gladly exchange money for lessons in return for time to ski kidless.

She doesn't ski, so it's moot.
She still might like to chill in the lodge sans kid for a few hours.

This is a thing? Every ski lodge I have been into felt more like a crowded food court at an airport.
Depends on the resort, and Mrs. Stoney could always choose a different resort, nothing against Loveland in and of itself.

You go to one of the hotel lodges at the base - not those crappy ones that belong to the resort.

Not a lot when you normally ski with telemarkers, I suspect.
@TN has GOTTA be one of those dirty, stinky, hippy telemarkers, no?
