what's with all the mud-tires and cut spikes? they expecting rain down there, or do they just want beefy tires for prettier pictures?

My understanding is that guys have been running cut spikes (and perhaps full on spikes sometimes) in really dry dusty condition, as they apparently have better penetration and ultimate grip. And that way, if it rains, you don't have to change tires :thumb:

Interbreasting seeing a power meter on Gee's bike, not surprised he's training with power but it's kind of a surprise to see it on his race bike. Guessing he'll be trying different pacing's and looking back at the data/times from practice. Is he sponsored by SRM, hell do they even sponsor althletes? I know they were working on a new MTB power meter with a rechargeable battery via a micro USB, maybe he's testing that.

Got to say, Peatys bikes always look the best out of all the worlds bike over the years.

Gwins and Ropolotos are better, and somebody other then peaty has the best looking bike for the first time in years. Although all three of them are head and shoulders above everybody elses so far. Gees looks incredibly boring and bland.

Last time Ropalato raced with a 29er and a bottle cage he won. Maybe he should use a bottle cage for good luck again

Is there a schedule out for practice times and race times. I know they do not do a qualifier, but don't they usually have a timed run also?

Interesting that Hill, Blinky, and Ragot are not running tacos on their chainguides. No rocks to hit on this course?

Not to mention he probably doesn't need it to withstand 70ft jumps
Like I said, I don't have any non-DH parts on my bike... Am running Deemax wheels, dual ply wire bead tires and all the tough stuff. No crap on it.

The sponsored riders have to run stuff from their sponsoring companies, and thus their bikes weigh more than they have to. They could run Sixc cranks instead of Saints. That's .6lb right there, and would bring their bike below mine in weight. I run an air shock - they being sponsored by Fox don't really have that option yet (I think Fox DH air shocks still blow balls, right?). That's another .3lb.

That'd bring Minaar's bike to 31.4lb, with no compromise in performance at all. An increase in performance actually, as the Vivid Air is way the F better than the RC4 on that frame.

I don't know if he's already using double bagged dual-ply UST tires, probably is, but that's worth .3lb as well. FYI, I don't use double bagged UST's, I use wire tires...

Oh and of course using SRAM X0 DH shifters and der instead of Saint...

Gee is running the Shimano chainguide. I think that's the first one I've seen on a WC bike.

I'm not convinced they were running stock v10's. I know they kept on saying they were running stock bikes but if I recall correctly they only ran those frames for that one race. Schladming was a couple of weeks later and none of them were running their world champs frames.

Seems like clever marketing to me. When did the V10 start coming with the two travel options?
Peatys bike from 09 worlds is in our showroom. 2841 mission st, Santa Cruz CA.
It wasn't stock, it was longer to fit him (before we made an XL) but suspension was not changed. Semi slick rear tire and tiny rotors.

Minnaars from last year is next to it. And rattys from junior worlds too. True story. Ill give u a tour if i'm around.
