point of clarification: hey @Toshi do you have a doctorate of something something? Or do we just call you doc and you’re not actually a doctor? Forgive me for not knowing, or more likely not paying attention.
He is an MD, not sure if he has a PhD as well.

Smashpot just showed up.

Took brown almost double to the time to get it the last 100 miles than it took for the first 2000. :disgust1: And lets just not talk about their "delivery dates" or "tracking". How the F are these clowns still in business?

Head is not playing too nice atm, definitely not in the right frame to fork around with the new toy. Oh well, medz and maybe we will get to turn some wrenches later today/night.

there's been a lot of supply chain and distribution interruptions due to covid and its associated restrictions.

Doc T, round these parts that’s who I’d likely call doc or the doctor. but I understand your confusion, given they both have mopeds.

Ya, I get that. The Smashpot itself was ordered way back in early July. There were supply chain issues with things Steve does not do in-house.

It made it from Whistler to Toronto with no problems.
But getting it the last 100 miles...
When you get three deliver dates, two we missed you messages, and two Service disruption messages all via e-mail all while tracking shows it sitting in a suburb of Toronto... It just shows that the right hand does not know the left hand exists let alone what it is doing.

I never choose brown if I have a choice, and I have never had a brown delivery EVER, that has gone according to schedule.

Kid's Covid test came back negative at 12:45. I dropped him off at school at 13:05! He's been home since Monday, and symptom free since yesterday.

It's ride night tonight too!

imma rant for a second

I'm in search of a new GPS. Realizing I can't get any discount by buying online, I'll just swing by an LBS and buy one for retail like all the other heathens...almost not a single place has one in stock, and those that do are charging $25 over retail. you can literally buy it direct from the MFG for less than these places. I just don't get it.
Covid purchasing plus production issues seem to be making a lot of exercisey things harder to come by these days. I would imagine winter sports will bring more of this. And actually, I wonder what kind of winter items will be hard to come by due to Covid. I need to give that some thought and then buy a lot of these items so I can price gouge when availability becomes limited.

Looking at my west coast time stamp and doin the math.........why the hell are you up at 3:30 in the morning?

I usually wake up at 2am and then at least pretend to sleep for another 4 hours.

I know, I know... you were already corrected / fingered it out. But I took the screencapture so goddammit I'mma post it.

okay, coffee in veins now

FT, what are you doing up at 5:30 in the morning?
One riding buddy is working half-days that start at 7am so he can watch after his toddler chitlin and new-born when his baby-momma works her half-day in the afternoon. So yeah, I/we could ditch him and ride at other times, but I like riding with the dude and we don't get to see him as often as we used to pre-chitlins.

You ever ride hildebrand ranch/ black bear into DC? My buddy did yesterday and it was legit. Plus it's what, 15 minutes from your house?
No - and I've never been tempted. The sheer number of switchbacks to deal with sounds horrid...

So did he descend DC and then coast the road back to his car?
I did it. Switchbacks galore. One fun section by cliffs but 99% suck otherwise

Naw, just MD. Sister also has “only” an MD. My dad is the PhD, MD overachiever in the immediate family.

Radiology (as in the physician who reads studies, not the radiographer who works the machines and takes them) is undergrad, med school, 1 year internship, 4 years residency, then 1 year fellowship in my case (this last is optional but almost everyone does one).

Thus I was in training until 2014!

In other news:

Broke my fast at 114 hours at noon after a lovely ride in changing aspen (Mountain Lion). Steak, kare pan, shoku pan, coffee, and some milk. Didn’t ease back into it!

And... MIL got scammed. Email link, pop-up explosion, India call. Software installed, bank possibly compromised. Thankfully got there within 30min and uninstalled a lot plus got on the phone with bank.

@SkaredShtles is playing IT support later tonight and will see if I missed anything, because it's not my expertise. Will probably spend the next few days going acct by acct changing passwords, putting in 2-point verification, and limiting transactions to verbal confirmation only. Yeah!

That was awfully generous of you. I would have suggested bootstraps and said OK boomer in response to every question

Oh man, I'm glad both my P's are paranoid AF and can barely use a computer.

It’s four dudes and two bikes.
I'm pretty sure I've (begrudgingly) seen that flick...

well shit. Second to last run is a nice old guy in a wheelchair. Picked him up from treatment and took him home. He lives on a steep ass hill. And today they are repaving his street and the road was closed. Paving guys escorted me up to the point where the asphalt was too soft to drive on. That was 1/2 mile short of his house. So I parked unloaded him and pushed him to his house on the sidewalk. He and his wheelchair are about 200 pounds. I got my workout in for sure the AC and cold gatoraid in the van hit the spot when I got back. Didn't make it home until 6pm so much for riding

She's the one who is scared of technology. But she runs finances for municipal democratic candidates. She's a Boomer, but not a head in the sand Boomer.
