yes and they are overprized too!they must've meant competitive with their carbon road bike offerings

I might take you up on thatGo ahead and get it and I'll buy the fork from you. I don't see how you couldn't be intrigued by it.
not every Marz has it and its not the same. The air assist element of the fork is fairly interesting. Well, about as interesting as it is on every Marzocchi.
thats what ive been trying to say but some think "kit" means frame, fork, headsetdex says nothing about fork included...thinking it is only offered with complete
I hope they do not charge another $4k for about $2500 in parts for the complete!thats what ive been trying to say but some think "kit" means frame, fork, headset
Yeah, I figured that price would be without fork. Any idea of when I can get my hands on the carbon frame? I want one!I took a look at the Trek dealer site last night. Nothing is mentioned at all about a fork being included with the carbon frameset.
i dont get why they are coming with the same tune as the WC riders use....especially after hearing them all talk about how much firmer they are setup to accomodate the speeds the WC riders are atI like the idea of what they're doing with the suspension on the sessions. I wonder if you have to ride like AG for it to work though.
Don't quote me on this but I think trek wants to sell bikes, and may use their athletes to that goal.i dont get why they are coming with the same tune as the WC riders use....especially after hearing them all talk about how much firmer they are setup to accomodate the speeds the WC riders are at
der obviously.Don't quote me on this but I think trek wants to sell bikes, and may use their athletes to that goal.
And continuing on the captain obvious theme: you think the average punter knows that, or is more enthralled with the IDEA of getting what one of the fastest riders in the world gets?der obviously.
but the average punter isnt going to be able to effectively ride a bike tuned for a WC rider.
pinkbike had a article about that where they rode Brendan's Demo and found it hard to really get it performing effectively
I allways thought kids wanted pogo sticks with no damping. Trek is starting a new fashion? Give them a year and half of the WC wannabe kids will ride oversprung bikes with damping maxed out.And continuing on the captain obvious theme: you think the average punter knows that, or is more enthralled with the IDEA of getting what one of the fastest riders in the world gets?
I mean hell, it's working on me
I'm not going to go buy one or anything but I would like to try it.
HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHAHAHA lolIf Pinkbike said so , it must be true eh ?...god I love the internet.pinkbike had a article about that where they rode Brendan's Demo and found it hard to really get it performing effectively
boy youre dumb.HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHAHAHA lolIf Pinkbike said so , it must be true eh ?...god I love the internet.
I love the pb hate fad. It was ridden by one of the guys who also posts on rm. RIDDEN like in real life. Id rather belive him that the bike was harder to ride than some people who have no proof of doing that.HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHAHAHA lolIf Pinkbike said so , it must be true eh ?...god I love the internet.
Gwintune™ bro. Gwintune™.I highly doubt people will get Gwin's tune. Besides, we all know he gets different tunes for different courses. Tracy's tune is surely different right?
Marketing at it's best.
Stiffer? You mean more compression built in right?Cause for less than 50$ I can make any pro bikes run smoother with a softer spring rate Anyway, still the point is, do you guys REALLLY thinks what JOE BLOW Pinkbike fellow RM poster has to say about the bike is going to change the average rider mind????I love the pb hate fad. It was ridden by one of the guys who also posts on rm. RIDDEN like in real life. Id rather belive him that the bike was harder to ride than some people who have no proof of doing that.
Also I agree with IH8Rice - it has been mentioned many times that some of the pros tend to run stiffer setups.
which on its own wouldnt be that bad considering most manufacturers dont even bother custom valving their shocks in the first place.
nearly every mfg does
and my original comment still stands. you called out what someone said about a pros bike having a custom, stiffer tune, but yet agree with it in your rant
no, i just listen to what the few industry people who post on here say. eh.Perhaps you'd know better than me on this, you must work with all of those guys to be in the "known" eh ?
from my understanding , most manufacturers will "tweak" their shocks and get the closets available tune from say Fox to best match their bikes and very few of them actually "custom valve" their shocks which to me means 2 different thing . . .Perhaps you'd know better than me on this, you must work with all of those guys to be in the "known" eh ?
and I still think what Pinkbike had to say about the bike wont have any effect on global sales for that thing...Still doesnt mean that I think a "pro tune" would work for most of them and also doesnt believe the thing has said tune either...
I guess I am not the only one who is not in love with the new Trek despite the success of the frame.HAYE GUISE don't mind me I'm just $600 and you could buy six of me for less than one 9.9 but you'll won't WIN at INTERNETS like you would with carbonz
DH = Triathlon/roadie? Since when?
/threadTrust me...I love it...I love my Fuel and I'd die for a session...but 4gs for a DH frame which is going to get its ass kicked in a season or two is not the direction I think we should be moving in....too each their own, of course, but imagine if you bought a a Vexx frame instead....you'd have $3400 in your pocket...enough to take a hell of a trip to Whistler or a few weeks on a euro vacation....what's honestly going to make you a better rider, three weeks in whistler, or a carbon nanotube doohickey, regardless of how many squatz, shimz, or carbonz is haz?
OR . . . spend all of it on this instead :/thread
If you factor in maintanance it is not really cheaper.OR . . . spend all of it on this instead :

Yeah I know apples to oranges different industry but still, that is a sick dirt bike and its CHEAPER as well
I love Trek bikes but that price is scary to look @ !!!!!

In terms of structural performance, steel suffers from higher density (meaning thinner walls/more dents, or smaller diameter tubes, which are weaker/less stiff in bending), lower formability (no hydroforming or forging is going to happen at any reasonable cost) and lower machinability than aluminium. It isn't really something that will inherently last longer than an aluminium structure, and the manufacturing techniques are far less advanced. Steel frames have to be structurally very simple compared to aluminium/carbon, and as a result, there is a lot less potential for structural optimisation.the sand witch spews wisdom.
though built right, carbon should offer better longterm longevity and thus value than an aluminum from of similar weight. prices will inevitably come down.
i'm still a big fan of steel, though. great longevity and repairability if need be, at a better pricepoint. still interested why steel use has fell along the wayside in favor of the exotic stuff for dh frame development. i could totally see $1k privateer frames with great longevity and relatively minor weight penalty being pumped out offshore w/ great success.
